1947 Mercury 2 door Coupe
This was an Ebay purchase. The purchase was sort of an accident. I had been watching the auction and had bid on it early but sort of forgot about it. When I got the emal reminder the auction was ending I clicked on it and saw it had not reached its reserve yet so a added $100 ($9,800) over the highest bid and went to bed with 2 hours left in the auction. Woke up the next morning the winner. This was a little hard for my wife to understand why I was trying to buy another car but thats another story.
The car was in Dalton Georgia which happened to have a bus station (more of a bus stop). Got a one way Bus ticket and after 27 hours arrived in Dalton. The Ebay seller picked me up we went to the Car and I was on the road in 30 minutes. It had a 350/350 with an early Camaro front suspension and 10 bolt rear out of the same Camaro donor car but ran the original Mecury leaf springs. I ended up swaping the Heads and fixing a transmission leak but the car was a decent road car. It had power windows, shaved door handles and an nice size trunk.
I ended up selling the car to finish my Corvette project but would like to find another late 40 Ford or Mecury. They are a nice and roomy designed car.
