1974 CORVETTE
Numbers matching L-48 4 speed Coupe. Body on restoration in progress.Since 74 was last year for the 454 big block I decided to buld a clone but keep the L-48 for the next owner. Body was media blasted, the stress cracks by the rear window and several other problems were fixed. Both bumpers were replaced. The front is a new GM urethane but the rear is a 2 pc. fiberglass (74 had unique 2 pc. split urethane bumper but no longer available). 4 Speed was a surprise since its a Super T-10 BW and not the Saginaw I expected for the orignal L-48, I still have to finish the motor and trans but should be on the road by May 2007.

Base coat Silver Mist (original color of car)

Bare 454 Block. Its a Gen VI block which has 4 bolt mains but no provision for fuel pump or clutch. Adding a special bracket solved the clutch problem. Forced to run electric fuel pump. Using an Eagle forged 4.25 stroke crank with .060" over Keith Black pistons for 496 cubes. Also using .250" longer Rods and stock ZZ-502/502 oval port aluminum heads and hydraulic roller cam. Forced to use an Edelbrock Torquer II intake due to stock hood and clearance problems. Nothing else will work except the stock cast iron intake GM used.

Clear, buff, and re-assembly and alignment. All lights, emblems, bulbs, door handles, and mirrors replaced. Discovered the rear tail and back up lights were also unique to the 74 (expensive $190).

Interior at its worst. Would post current picture but the pictures are to dark.

Original numbers matching L-48. Going into storage for the next owner in case he wants the original 195HP motor.
