This build-up is a resurrection of a 1968 Chevelle SS knockoff.
This 40 year old 2 door was rescued from dying a slow death in a farmer's field.
I'm 2 1/2 years into this ground up drag strip rebuild.
And I've had much help along the way. BIG THANKS to the awesome crew at Team Chevelle. Check out the BEST Chevelle site on the web @ Team Chevelle
The engine is a 454 Big Block Chevy bored .040 for a total of 463 cubes. It uses Keith Black domed pistons and a fully balanced rotating assembly.
ARP bolts are used throughout to hold things together. An Edelbrock Performer intake and a Holley 750 mix the drinks to get us to the finish line.
A Lunati Voodoo Cam and Comp Cams pushrods and guideplates open the valves in the Chevy 781 heads.
Just for kicks, I've added a 150 HP shot of nitrous to keep things exciting.
The horsepower is channelled into a deep pan Turbo 400 packed full of B&M hardware. A street and strip Transpak and a 2400 stall convertor are connected to a B&M Megashifter.
Out back, the power is laid down through a GM 12 bolt with a Moroso Brute Strength posi unit. Richmond 4.10 gears and a T/A diff cover with carrier supports finish it off. Thanks to Randy's Ring and Pinion for building it right.
The Competition Engineering 10 point roll cage looks good and is built to handle a wild ride. Thanks to my good bud and highly skilled welder, Cal.
This should help it hook up, and be enough to keep me safe into the 10 sec mark.
I just got this fiberglass frontend. After a week of fooling around, I built the tilt mechanism and brackets from scratch. I am pretty happy with it. Should help shave some pounds off.
Just in the process of fiberglassing this vintage L88 Corvette style hood scoop in. Should help the 454 breathe a little easier. Fiberglass bumpers are next.
AutoMeter 2 5/8 gauges monitor the important stuff.
