BLACK HEAD LIGHT MODIFICATION:
To take the headlights out, You will have remove the grill and that small piece below the lights wich is very easy. Just make sure to be careful with that small piece. Dont yank on it to hard. There are 4 bolts for the headlights, 2 up top, 1 at the bottom inside corner, bumper kinda hides it a little but u can get it out. The 4th is up under the bumper above the mounting bracket. Once the lights are out. Remove everything off of them. All the plastic pieces all the lights and rubber things. Also the 3 hex screws. Make sure not to mess with the adjustment knobs. Those are the things that look like bottle caps. You can take off the top weather strip but others say you can leave it on. Cooking the lights. I found that 325-340 degrees for 10 mins works well. Remember to preheat the oven. Once you put the light in there turn the oven off. You only want to use the radiated heat to cook the lights. Also put them on a piece of cardboard so they are not directly on the rack. At this time and temp it should pry apart the first try. Just take your time and dont rush anything. This is not something that just peels apart super easy. I didnt use any tools. I just used my hands by starting in the one corner where its easy to grab both parts. I also had a buddy helping me pry it apart slowly. Patience is a virtue. Once apart, remove the 2 hex screws that holds the plastic shell to the lens. Pull it out. Also you might want to wear some latex/vynil gloves when doing this so you dont get finger prints all over the lens. Ok now pop out the orange marker and the turn signal lens. Be careful not to break them when you do so, you might want to put them back in. I personally think it looks better to leave them out, but thats my opinion. I used Krylon Fusion paint. No prep needed its also desinged to bond to plastic and is pretty strong. All I did was take a scotch brite pad and just scuffed it up a little bit just to take a little extra measure, then I cleaned it off with glass cleaner to get any dirt or grime off it. I wore goves so I would not get any oils back on the surface, and paint away. Take your time and dont put on thick coats. It took me 25 mins per light coat to paint it using lighter coats so you dont get any runs or drips. Let it dry for about 1 hour and be careful not to touch the painted surface. Carry them from behind and be VERY CAREFUL putting markers back in if you choose to do so. The paint is not fully chip resistant for 7 days. After that I put the 2 pieces back together, being very careful not rub the painted part on the edges and I put them back in the oven at 320 for 5mins just to get the caulk soft. Pull them out, push them back together as best as possible. Make sure all the tabs are clipped back on. I also used Window/door silicone in the seam of the housing just to make sure there wont be any leaks/condinsation. Then put the hex screws back in and pop the tabs in place. After that I put another bead of silicone all the way around the seams again just to make sure that it gets a good seal. Trust me, you dont want to do this again because water got in them. Thats it, put it back on the truck and you are good to go. Also, that 4th bolt, some say SCREW IT but I put it back in. Its up to you. Hope everyone that tries this has a good outcome. Just take your time and do it right. Dont try to cut any corners, and it will come out great. It took me 4.5 hrs to do, and this is what they will look like... ENJOY
