This is a 1991 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera S sedan that has been given to me by a friend who doesn't have a use for it or the time to fix some of the minor problems it has. Pretty nice little car with a V6 and a simple 3-spd auto. Brakes 'er good, tires fair.
To start with I just got a new downpipe and muffler, which I installed today . Running around with open exhaust is just not cool and the rusted-out junk I hacked off was roughly the equivalent. It had been poorly welded and patched several times before. One of the previous owners even removed the catalytic converter and welded in a straight tube. At least with new back pipes and an el-cheapo muffler the car sounds more civil, and the lack of a cat actually gives it a nice growl.
Beyond that I forsee a little bodywork, an extensive interior detailing, new spark plugs, and some new speakers to replace the blown-out stock ones. A new head unit is definitely in the works as well.
The 116k+ mileage isn't a problem after my research showed that the 3.3L engine under the hood is a good engine, based off the 3.8L engine that has been a reliable GM mainstay. It runs very well and only has a hint of an oil leak, probably from the valve covers.
I came across a good site for GM A-Bodies while looking up info on this car: A-Body.net Lots of good info and helpful people there.
