UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE

Update: June 29, 2005

blasintebo2's 1994 Nissan Pickup

Well, it's been about 5 months since my last mod (underdrive pulley) and I haven't done a thing more because I am so happy with the looks, ride, performance of my truck. I have made it handle better with a fat sway bar in the rear, and heavy duty gas charged shocks, and good rubber and wide rim.

I already had my Denali's shaved so my wheel well could the handle the wider Denali wheels... but it never looked quite perfect, so I got a set of 4x4 fenders.

Once the first incident, where one of my 2wd fenders finally got dented- I'll always looking for a reason to upgrade. And all finally too. As I used to keep all my old parts in my parents garage, the old 4X4 ones I bought while I was still down in San Diego, off this hardcore guy, who had a completely bagged shaved hardbody, with shaved fender (antenna) all it needed was paint... SO I bought both fr driver and pass. side 4x4 fenders for only 40 bucks... and I didn't have to pay shipping and I ended the smoking auction by telling him I'd pick them up right away. I decided to bust out the 4x4 I had bought almost 2 years before... this is no 3 years later... and I am feeling like There's no need to bust them, because my shaved Denali's sheen tucked anyway... but since with the 4x4 were painted (oem) black and installed for 400 bones, I finally took the plunge, Now I could easily tuck 245-45-17 tires...

I had them painted by a local body shop, and installed them for me as well. Total cost me almost $400... what a rip. But that's what I thought before I saw what it looked like on my truck and the result is that, my wheels have never looked like they ever could fit any better!

Update: Jan 24, 2005

My most recent upgrade was an aluminum underdrive pulley. Wow, there is a definite difference in the power, the engine revs up faster and pulls harder.

blasintebo2's 1994 Nissan Pickup

One side effect was that the mechanical fan pulls a little less air and as a result the temps at idle are a little warmer. Not a bad upgrade if you are going to change your belts. While I was down there I replaced my crank seal. It started to leak a little oil. The mileage (current of 01/24/05) is 146,000 miles). Still runs strong.

Update Dec. 2004

Just had new 4x4 fenders put in and painted to match. It cost me $400 Ouch.

Truck looks awesome though. I will post new pictures soon.

Greeting fellow Hardbody enthusiasts. I love my Hardbody. If it were a woman, I would marry it and consummate the marriage immediately. It's a 94 Nissan Hardbody XE Kingcab 4x2. The truck has been lowered via DJM control arms to maintain suspension geometry. This means, I can have expensive tires without worrying about camber wear, or other adverse affects due to improper slammage. The rear's been dropped via 4" blocks, while keeping all 3 leaves intact (I still carry heavy loads - about 100 gallons of water for my tropical fish). Though, I'm looking to swap those for air ride, perhaps sooner than later. Though, if I go air ride, I definitely want to go with a four link. But if I go four link, I definitely want to go HB233 rear end (with limited slip). Though if I go HB233 rear end I definitely want to go Pathfinder HB233 rear disk brakes, which, won't fit unless I use internals from a coil spring Pathfinder rear end and implant this in to a leave spring HB233 which would equate to, in the end, money enough to buy a rear independant setup, from a 240 SX and have it fabricated to fit, which would then prabably be enough to get and SR20det, which would then probably be enough money to buy a 240 with the SR already in it, which would the probably be enough money to by a used 300zx twin turbo... which leaves me to where I am now. Stock 3 leaf suspension on blocks, but with gas shocks and a dope sway bar, mind you.

Yes, once upon a time I was like you. Big plans, high hopes, and low cash flow. Now, I'm just low on cash flow.

blasintebo2's 1994 Nissan Pickup

If you look closely, it looks like the rear is squat and the front is high. It look like that because it is (in the picture). You can't see it but their is about 10 three gallon water containers. Which equals 30 gallons at 9 pounds per gallon, which equals 270 pounds, which equals a big fat dude siting on my tailgate. It normally doesn't look that high in the front and low in the rear.

blasintebo2's 1994 Nissan Pickup

Take a quick peek at my setup. Notice the powerstop crossdrilled rotors. I have Axxis metal master pads, which are OEM on many imports like Accord and Camry. Quite brakes = better. If I wanted kevelar (earplugs not included) I would have chosen to upgrade everything. That means 5 lugs and 6 piston 300ZX calipers baby. But alas, I am but a poor college student. On a side note, I'm definitely gonna get some taller tires next time. Since I don't have bags... yet (possibly ever, it seems like) I am thinking anthing that will be flush. I could probably fit 245/ 45/ 17 if I wanted too, but... what for, as it would ultimately end up wreaking havoc on my stearing components. I am content to go 205/55/17 as long as there is no turbo or NOS going on. As for my alignmenent, Currently I am running about 1 degree of positive camber in the front (Plus, one 120 pound girl friend = about 0 degrees of camber on the long ride to and from San Diego and Camarillo) and 215/45/zr17 Yokohama re040 (see page 2). I think next time I will either get 225/45/17s or 215/50/17 or 205/55/17. Something with a little more beef for a smoother ride, and less worry about bent wheels. The other day I ran over someone's remnants of a flat tire on freeway going 75 mph. I was not happy! If you ever had a flat on Interstate 5 in California because your were too lazy to check your tire pressure, fuck you.

blasintebo2's 1994 Nissan Pickup

These are the rear's 225/45/zr17 Michelin Pilot Sport. Notice the trick sway bar peaking on the right bolted on the frame. I painted both the frame and the drums black. I like the nice clean look, not drawing too much attention, yet just enough to be noticed in contrast to the bright aluminum and red of the sway bar hardware and bushings (urethane of course). I hate it when people paint their drums crazy bright colors! Why bring attention to your drums? They must be on drugs.

blasintebo2's 1994 Nissan Pickup

I love my carbon fiber altezzas! They blend in with the black for a very clean look! I also like my roll pan. That upgrade took about 40 pounds of weight off the truck!

blasintebo2's 1994 Nissan Pickup

As of March 16, 2003 this is my mileage. Not bad considering my truck still looks brand new. I pride myself on keeping up on maintenance. I change the oil myself every 2500 -3000 miles. I just recharged my K&N and what a difference!

blasintebo2's 1994 Nissan Pickup

Here's a picture of the racing pedals, they are the only things I have done to the interior. They are really sticky! Ignore the ugly rubber mat behind, I want some factory gray mats!

blasintebo2's 1994 Nissan Pickup

The Extra Cab Longbed is really long! I always try to fit the whole thing in the picture, but I always run out of room or detail... except this time I am at Janine's (girlfriend) house and I can take the picture from her neighbor's yard.

blasintebo2's 1994 Nissan Pickup

As much as I love my 2wd fenders, I have recently acquired some 4x4 fenders that ought to house the fatter 225/45/17's quite nicely. I call this body shop and they quoted me $450 to color match Nissan black. Click. That was me hanging up on them. Never go to Bodytech! They'll rip you off!

blasintebo2's 1994 Nissan Pickup

Peek-a-boo. I see you. If you look closely you can see where I took a file to the corner of the sway bar bracket. Now they won't rub on cornering! I bet without the sway bar I could fit 245/40/17's... but I bet my handling is better (with the sway bar) even with the skinnier rubber!

blasintebo2's 1994 Nissan Pickup

I forget what year (maybe 93) Hardbody came out with the "Power bulge" which was one of the slight differences in year. Notice my trick license plate frame/cover... though a cop recently told me it was "illegal" because nothing is allowed to cover the license plate. (Even if it's clear?). "Hey I don't make the law I enforce it." You're gay officer.

Here's a close up on the tread design of the Re040. Very similar to the Continental Sport Contact (what I want!). Well, beggars can't be choosers when you get them practically for free!
Note: These are OEM on Nissan 350 Z, Lexus IS300, MAZDASPEED Protege
