Soon after i sold my previous ride (1993 Nissan S13 Silvia SR20det)I purchased this 1996 JZX100 Toyota Chaser Tourer V. I was initially aiming for a JZX90 with some mods but when this stock example turned up i couldn't resist.
Those that don't know what this is, don't be fooled by it's family car like 4 door appearance the 1JZ-GTE does pump out 206kw and 383nm at 2800rpm. So it's certainly no slug (though it ain't quite up to my old cars league just yet)
There isn't much on it at the moment. When i bought it was equipped with a HKS Megaphone exhaust system however since i bought it in another state and had it transported via rail to my state the exhaust system was badly damaged in the process. This will be rectified in the next week or so and a full custom exhaust system with a TRUST muffler will be put on. Other "mods" to the car include ; 17" Wisesports Mesh rims, Sony Xplod Amplifier and MP3 CD player, i personally dislike sony's car stereo equipment, so i have purchased a new DVD/CD deck. A got a JVC KD-AVX2.
I chose this deck because it looks simple and sleek and also has the ability to play dvds. Originally i was going to get a double din in dash monitor from alpine but i have since used the second DIN slot for my turbo timer and soon boost controller. I believe this deck keeps in theme with what i envision my car to be.
The car itself is equipped with a 1JZgte 2500cc single turbo (CT15B) VVT-I engine and to most people dis-approval a automatic transmission(A431) gearbox. Also since this model was automatic it was unfortunately sold without a LSD differential.
Though i will probably end up keeping the automatic transmission (to alot of my friends dismay) i will still mod this car, my goal is to reach over 400rwhp or at least close to that number whilst not degrading it's smoothness and prestige.
Since i've had it i've only installed a Greddy Full auto turbo timer. Alarm system and 35% grade tint. On order i already have a Apexi PowerFC + Commander and a Greddy Profec B electronic Boost controller on it's way. I also hope to order a Blitz Front mount intercooler kit in the near future. Ultimately i will be looking at changing the fuel pump and injectors to support a HKS GT3037s PRO, which i hope to get a little later down the track.
