TECH TIPS ON MAZDA SINGLE AND EXT CABS!!!
TIP OF THE WEEK: Remember when cutting, weather it be a jigsaw or cutting torch, make sure no wire's or flamable stuff such as rubber bushing, are in the way to catch fire or be cut, you'll be kickin your self in the ass later
first off when lowering your mazda keep these few things into consideration. If you think just cranking down the torsion bars and throwing some blocks in the back is gonna make your ride sit low. well yes of coarse it will BUT will the suspension hold up? The prob with this is that when you crank down the torsions the rear brakcets move down sitting below the frame(or even with) the frame, The prob with this is they can get caught on forgeign road objects such as the dred full speed bumps, or god forbid sewer man hole covers :O. The other prob is with the HORRIBLE RIDE, if you plan on doing this cut off not only the bump stop mount, but the upper shock mount. i noticed this when i purchased Lowering a arms(see later on in tech guide) that the bump stop was not bottoming out, and i didnt even have the bump stop mounts cut out. For the lowering block, cheap blocks will break and deterete, or the shifting motion will cause them to break. I advise you to purchase lowering leafs, and taking out a few leafs, the ride will still be rough because it will bottom out on the frame, but see the PERFECT LOWERING tech below for this. But as far as your "ghetto" jobs goin on out there, your simple drop is to Crank down the torsion, and throw some blocks in the back and taking out all of te leafs but the last one(the long one on the top) this is called "mono leafing" they can break though!! if you are not careful.
!!!PERFECT LOWERING COMBONATION!!!
the perfect lowering combonation in my eyes, as i can see is this.
#1)Lowering A arms
#3)lowering leafs(or 4 link or 3 link which ever you can afford)
#4)C notching the back is a must!!
#5)you will not lay frame on anything bigger than a 17, unless you ditch those pesky wheel wells.
#6) proper cutting of mounts up front such as the upper shock mount and the lower snub mount(the thing the a arm rest on) this will bring it Extremely low up front even with out the fron lowering components, BUT the camber(or leaning in wheels) will be dramatic and have horrbile wheel wear) but if you have bags that wont matter anyways
#######BAGGING YOUR MAZDA############
There a few options when bagging your mazda, you can keep everything stock up to the leafs in the back. replacing them with lowering leafs and blocks, and mono leafing it, OR the best option is installing a 4 link, ladder bar or, 3 link in the back. make sure you can lay frame BEFORE installing the air bags, you wil regret installing the brackets then later having to cut them off(dont ask how i know, it makes me sad to think about it :'( ) You can eithier purchase your brackets from a company or design your own, if this is your first time bagging or just want some great brackets i suggest www.suicidedoors.com i have used there brakcets and i was very satisfied. when installing the bags up front make sure to cut off ALL of the those brakcets in the way, such as the those mounts that had those rubber thingys on them, or the bump stops, snubbers, whatever you choose to call them. install the bottom mount to the bag first off with the truck in the air, next jack up the a arm till it is all the way up. now place in the brackets to see where your goin to weld this thing in at. to see how much depress one of your bags with a foot or your hands for you macho men and see where they stop at, its about 4 inches, or 3 i dont know. take a look some bags are different. any how make sure those brackets are exact or it wont drop all the way down. it will just bottom out the bag and you will wonder why your ride is higher then it was. another thing make sure there even or you will have a crocked ride but if you made sure the brackets are higher enough up on the frame you wont have to worry about that now will ya hehe.
Now for bagging the back
IF YOU HAVE LEAFS
you wil have to put the bags above the axle see the right brackets are suicidedoors.com
IF YOU HAVE a 4 link or ladder bar or 3 link, then you can put the bags up on the link, so your levage wil be WAY More causing it to have a larger lift in the rear. you will see in such magazines where the bags are up on the 4 link, BUT!!!! it can make the ride TOO soft, you might now like it.
REVERSED 4 LINKS ARE SHIT!!!!!!! DO NOT DO THEM!!!!!! THEY ARE HORRIBLE
When choosing your bags and you want somethin fast, its not always line size, its the valves, and how fast they are. DO NOT THINK that half inch will be fast, cause if your valves are shit then so will be your speed
