This is my 1958 Triumph TR3 when i first got it. Restorinback258's 1958 Triumph TR3
Everything was a mess and rusted out. Restorinback258's 1958 Triumph TR3 Restorinback258's 1958 Triumph TR3
This is what the engine looked like. It was full of acorns and rust. Restorinback258's 1958 Triumph TR3 Well I began to work on the doors and put body putty on it and sand it all off to get them smooth first. Restorinback258's 1958 Triumph TR3 This was one of the really bad crushes in the rear end. Restorinback258's 1958 Triumph TR3 I decided to use a stud welder and pull it out manually. Restorinback258's 1958 Triumph TR3 This tool pulls the stud that was welded onto the metal to pull out the dent in the side. This was hard work!

This is me grinding down the rusted out bottom support bar. Restorinback258's 1958 Triumph TR3 Both sides were completely rusted through. Restorinback258's 1958 Triumph TR3 I then welded in the new support bar and finished it off with some body filler and sanded it smooth. Restorinback258's 1958 Triumph TR3 Restorinback258's 1958 Triumph TR3 Restorinback258's 1958 Triumph TR3 Finally i repeated the steps and smoothed out all the imperfections in the body and body filled them all. Restorinback258's 1958 Triumph TR3 Restorinback258's 1958 Triumph TR3 Restorinback258's 1958 Triumph TR3 Then finally i covered up all the body putty filler with a white spray paint filler to protect it. Restorinback258's 1958 Triumph TR3 This is what she looked like after all the body work was done. Restorinback258's 1958 Triumph TR3 Restorinback258's 1958 Triumph TR3 This is my paint booth that i built in my garage to paint the car. I then put some final touch of red filler putty to get all of the minor scratches from the sandpaper covered up.

I then began to mask off all the parts that i had restored. Restorinback258's 1958 Triumph TR3 Restorinback258's 1958 Triumph TR3 I then began to tack the car down (getting all of the dust particles and metal off of it before i painted it.)

This is me mixing up the prep stage of the paint or "primer"

Restorinback258's 1958 Triumph TR3

Then I began to paint the hood, trunk, doors, etc. Restorinback258's 1958 Triumph TR3 Then i started to paint the car. (I did about 4 coats of primer) (It was hard to get pictures in the middle of me painting....) Restorinback258's 1958 Triumph TR3 Restorinback258's 1958 Triumph TR3 Then i got ready to do the black coat. (I did 6 coats of black) Restorinback258's 1958 Triumph TR3 Restorinback258's 1958 Triumph TR3 Restorinback258's 1958 Triumph TR3 Restorinback258's 1958 Triumph TR3 These are some of the final pictures of the finished product, i put on 3 clear coats as well (Not enough film to capture me doing that part). For the engine i just took everything apart and cleaned it up, painted it and put it back together. Restorinback258's 1958 Triumph TR3 Restorinback258's 1958 Triumph TR3 Well that was my experience restoring this 1958 Triumph TR3. I've got some more picutres coming, of the soundsystem and headunit and custom interior. This is a final picture of the car with my sister and I.

My hat is off to you. It's nice to see someone else with that kind of passion (and patience). I just bought my dad's '57 TR3, they are a fun car!!!!
