I bought this rig about 3 years ago. It was in stock condition, about 97,000 on the miles and in need of some serious work on the inside. I made the decision not to try to "restore" it, but more to take it apart and rebuild it to suit my needs as an offroad capable weekend hunting rig.

This was my beast in the beginning. Pretty much stock and the camper interior was coming apart.

This is a picture of me stuck on my last trip. The little creek didn't look that deep, but I ended up with the front axle and rear of the truck on the ground. That camper hangs out there a little ways.

www.blazerchalet.com Check the link, this is one of about 1800 that were factory equipped with a Chinook camper in 1976/1977. I've got the factory manual from GM with all the camper info in it. It's legit. That being said, I can definitely see why they don't recommend campers in K5's. There's not enough wheelbase, 1/2 ton running gear ain't up to the task, and the suspension is a little light. I'm in the process now of putting a 14bolt in the rear, relocating the axles about 1 1/2 inches further up and back, and I've got new heavy duty springs.

looks sweet, but according to the blazer manual, your not supposed to have slide in campers in the rear.
just a tip.
