The car is a Honda / Acura NSX that I originally built in late 2003 as a Grand-Am Cup endurance car. This all aluminum body and frame was part of the only multi car pro NSX team to race in the US. After retiring from that series the car was converted to win the Honda Challenge series. It’s first series race started in the back of a split start field and went on to pass every car in the race to take the checkered flag. Two days later the car won the 2006 East Coast Super Street Time Attack Championship on DOT tires. The car has run over 4500 miles on the street with 11 Cannonball event wins.
The car runs on pump gas to make 560 supercharged reliable wheel horsepower and efficiently gets 22 MPG on the highway. With race fuel the engine makes 625+ whp w/o NOS, and is built to withstand 800+ if the need ever presents it self. I plan to make 700 RWHP for this event.
The primary driver is professional racer Rob Morrison, who has a 1st or 2nd place finish in his last 5 races.
Reliability- Last November the car ran at Sebring consuming 65 gallons of fuel, giving exhibition rides to 25 different people, running low 2-minute laps on DOT tires. The car consumed a full set of race pads but drove away on it’s own power to attend the annual NSXPO in Orlando and another 100+ miles on the street. Including an autograph session on International Drive (With lots of smoke) for the M&M magazine photographers. The local model asked for the ride and cameras were watching… as if I needed an excuse.
The car has appeared in more then one televised event including Grand-Am Cup, SCCA club events, Cannonball One lap of America, NASA Honda Challenge, Super Street Time Attacks, 2007 Speed coverage of the SEMA show and 2007 Speed coverage of the PRI show. Since December the car has been covered in 4 magazines and 2 TV shows including GRASSROOTS. The car has been raced on over 25 different tracks throughout the US and Canada (Including a Cannonball win for the car and my first showing on the South course at VIR).
With the help of friends and family (Thanks Doug) I built this car from the ground up in my garage at my home, including all the welding and custom fabrication for parts that didn’t exist in the NSX market. I rely on Lamar Walden speed shop in Atlanta to do my engine machine work, but I do all the engine assembly in my basement. The graphics are designed by myself with an enormous amount of help from Ryan Nakai (an artist) and ALTWRAPS.com where they were installed.
The car has some new additions-
A Dual Carbon Clutch from EXEDY my primary sponsor.
Racing Brakes from STOPTECH as a new sponsor.
Racing Brake Pads from CARBOTECH for this challenge.
Wheels to clear my Big Brakes thanks to the guys at FactorX in Vegas.
