I got this car for my 14th B-Day, 24 years ago. I restored the drive train and drove the car in high school. It was the same color it is today. I like to call it California Suede. Some people might call it primer. I drag raced it with various motor and trany combinations for years. The best it went was 11.40 with a 470ci BB.
In the fall of 04 I decided to make it a pro touring car that I could take on vacations or hit the drag strips and road courses. That is how it transformed into what it is today.
It has a full race chassis, a 1999 Camaro dash complete with the full 99 electrical system that gives me all the options that came with the 99 Camaro. The engine is an 04 GTO LS1 that makes 400HP at the tires and gets 26 miles to the gallon. The interior includes fold down rear seats that makes room for my dog and my 8 month old son. A trailer hitch should be done by summer.

Some of the work was subbed out to friends but all work was spec'd out by myself or developed through concensus amongst my friends. I installed the entire drivetrain (several times), fabricated a lot of the interior tin work, fabricated the clutch/brake/steering column support structure. I wired the entire car (electrician by trade), installed many additional gages and warning lights to prevent future meltdowns like the blown motor due to oil starvation. I did 100% of the research for every aspect of the design and build stages. The best part is...I get to drive it every day...rain or shine!

If I am lucky enough to get invited to the Ultimate Track Challange. I plan to drive the car to VIR which I am told is 12 to 14 hours from CT.

SPECIAL THANKS

I must give a special thanks to all the people the made this car possible. Without their help I would never have this car. They helped in every way possible, Knowledge, labor, financial and design. We put in a ton of late nights and a few all nighters to turn the car around so fast and still go to work every day. The car went from a drag car to a pro touring car in less than one year.

I am still working on some of the final details and finishes.
I plan to be on slicks this summer for track events.
We have one more suspension trick up are sleeve, I will post some pictures once I know it will all work out.
