mustang62287's 1980 Ford Mustang

This is the history of my 1980 mustang. I was hired at a local auto shop for the summer between sophmore and senior high school years. I did oil changes, wheels and tires, motor swaps, peformance exhaust and other jobs. Well there was another guy that also worked there. He wasnt a technical kinda guy. He answered the phone and took care off the bills and stuff like that. He owned a beemer that wasnt to bad to a guy like me that didnt like anything about foriegn cars. He knew that I was a diehard ford fan and that i already had bought a 1987 mustang. He said one day to me that he had a 1980 mustang for sale. I told him i was intrested. Low on money when he said that i said how bought i buy it from you at the end of the summer when i have the money to buy it from you. He said thats a deal. I went to where it had been sitting for a while outside behind his house. The interior was all taken apart but it looked to me like all the parts snd pieces were there. The exterior looked alright. Not in the best of shape cause of the elements it had sat in but could be fixed nicley with some time and money. The underhood comparment was a differnt story. I opened the hood and the motor was missin. I could already tell the car was a 4 cly car. But there was c4 tranny sitting in the tunnel. I asked him were the motor was. He said that it was at a shop down the road. He said that he had it rebuilt but didnt have the time to put it back in the car. I said ok. I waited all summer to buy this car. Finally i had the money to buy this car. This was about half the summer i had worked. So i gave him the money. It was a month before i acually got the car home. I got the motor from the shop and took it to my dads high performance engine shop were i took the whole motor apart. Found that the motor had been rebuilt but it had been distroyed. Asumming that he had it rebuilt by some joesmoe that didnt know anything about engines. I was only 16 at the time but i knew that the set up that he had in the motor was not good. The cam was to big for the springs that he had put in. The springs were not double spring and the spring rate was to low. So there for the lifters shaved off four lobes of the cam. This distroyed the motor. The pistons brand new were all distroyed, the cly walls were all scrached. The whole motor was distroyed internally. So my dad owning a high performance engine shop was a plus for me. I acually owned three of my mustangs before i could acually drive legally. 1987 lx, 1989 lx, 1980 lx.

Nice job on the car, it sounded like a basket case when you started out with it like mine did, but it shows that you put the effort into it and because of that you have a nice complete car and a clean one at that. Good Job, and update me on future mods.
