unfortunately i sold my pride and joy =(, but hopefully ill get another =)
Let me just start off by saying I'm on a TIGHT budget by witch I mean almost no money as I pay for every thing, including collage (not automotive related at all), my other car, insurance, and so on, and I only work part time at Wegmans.
That being said this is also my first project, and my only other experience working on cars is changing oil my breaks and a cat back exhaust system once.
I originally bought the Fiero with a blown engine for $350.00.
then we had to tow it home.
this is what the oil from the engine looked like. It was caused by coolant that leaked into the oil from 2 cracked cylinders, with 2 pistons that got mest up from parts of a broken socket wrench the previous owner accidentally dropped into the intake. He said it was making a "knocking" sound. I found out it was caused by part of the socket being hammered into the piston every time it came up and smashed into the head.

where I do all the work and my other ride.
next step was raising the whole car in order to drop the engine(O how I wish I could just lift the engine).
the empty engine compartment and the old engine
So I had to buy a "new" used engine to rebuild $420.00 from http://www.kickhill.com/fiero.html.
unfortunately one of the cylinders as well as its intake valve suffered rust from poor storage.
the new Iron Duke
Then I spent the next 2 months rebuilding and cleaning the car to get it all to work again.
putting the rebuilt engine in the car.
all together including buying the car, engine, registration and miscellaneous parts I estimate it cost me roughly $1200.00 to get a road legal Fiero, now plus $250 for shocks and struts, so grand total now around $1400 plus my labor. when I again have money and time I plan on many more upgrades and customizations and any help from other moders particularly Fiero owners is very welcome.
my baby after a good wash. nothing but stock paint after a little TLC with some rubbing compound and then some wax.

I plan to do most future body work and painting at a local body shop Nu-Look Collision
http://www.nulookcollision.com/
some future up grades are as follows
1)suspension- lowering springs (Eibach), KYB struts and shocks, -----Done!
2)brake upgrade kit
3)New rims and tire looking for some 7.5" -8" wide
I'm mostly aiming for some kick a$$ handling.Basically I want to make a poor mans Lotus Elise. I love those cars.

4)new front & rear bumpers, possibly wide body kit.
5)new Paint job, this is my current inspiration for a paint scheme, I also really like this Fiero. I think they look good in a 2 tone.
6)engine swap not sure as to what, mostly what ever is easiest/ cheapest aiming for 200hp.
7)redo the interior to something custom including new dash and new sound system.
