The 1991 Toyota Celsior (JDM Lexus LS400) was the beginning of a new era for Toyota in the luxury market. Sporting a 1UZ-FE 32 Valve 4.0 Liter FOUR CAM V8 the Celsior produced 256 hp and 260 ft-lbf. The LS400 could accelerate from 0-60 in 7.9 seconds, the fastest of all luxury sedans. The North American Lexus LS400 Flagship was voted one of the 24 most important vehicles of the 20th Century and took many awards including;

*Best Imported Car of the Year- US Motoring Press 1989
*1st in luxury sedan comparison test-(out scored all other rivals)- Automobile magazine 1989
*Best of Whats New:Best Car- Popular Science 1989
*Car of the Year Japan- Japan Car of the Year 1989
