2002 Designo Silver Edition SLK32 AMG. Has all available options that could be bought on a 2002 SLK32 AMG. Of course it has all the AMG goodies, ie. AMG High Performance Brakes, special AMG Sport suspension, 349HP Supercharged (Kompressor) 3.2L V6, 18 Valve, 12 spark plug, with special AMG 5 spd Auto Touch F1 Speed shifter, etc. and even the onboard hands free cellular telephone. Also included is a dual Subwoofer 6 CD changer, cassette player, AM/FM Bose premium sound system. Designo Package ($4,800 dollar Mercedes Option so not many were produced) includes special Designo Silver Metallic Paint, Dual colored leather steering wheel (Black/Silver leather), dual colored seats w/designo name imprinted on them, roll bar covers in designo silver leather, dual leather covered shift knob, special designo wood accents (Shifter surround/Door panels) and special designo floor mates with dual color (Charcoal/Silver).

Standard Features Include: Xenon Headlamps, Fog Lamps, 8 way power heated seats, individual dual temperature control, auto dimming inside rear view mirror and driver's side outside mirror, cruise control, Traction control, ABS with brake assist, hands free voice commands for phone radio, cd player, etc., heated windshield and headlight washer, Front vented AMG Disc brakes, first aid kit and so on. Everything you would expect from a Mercedes in the area of luxury and all you can expect from AMG in the performance area.

It took Chevrolet another year (2003) Z06 model Corvettte to equal the 0-60 times of the SLK32 AMG. It's also just a couple of mila-ticks slower to 0-60 than the Dodge Viper RT10. All this with only 3.2 liters. The good thing about it, is that most Americans (myself included) don't, and still don't, really know what AMG stands for and what the difference is between an AMG car (all hand built and purpose built) and a regular Mercedes, that is until they are scratching their head in their new Corvettes wondering what just happened to them by a little Mercedes "ladies" car.

Think of it this way.....The SLK32 AMG produces 109HP/L (349HP/3.2L). At that rate the Ford Mustang Modular 4.6L engine would have to produce 501.4 HP to match the output per liter of the SLK 32.

Only mods I've made to date are dual K&N air filters. Would love to be able to afford the Brabus upgrade to 404HP, but I guess having a home to live in is also important....or is it?

Car and Driver road tested the 2002 SLK32 AMG (Bone Stock) and recorded 0-60 in 4.5 seconds and the quarter mile in 13.0 @105.0 MPH. Road and Track recorded 4.6/13.1. Motor Trend 0-60 in 4.62/13.06 @108.74 MPH. Either way, it is the fastest car I have ever driven and handles the curves like it is on rails.
