Hey all, my name is Mike and this is Cathrine. Cathrine is a '63 Pontiac Starchief with a 389ci 4barrel/2 speed automatic transmission. She has 120,6XX original miles. I purchased her on the first of February (2/1/07) for $500. Thank You Lenard and Craigslist

Pics of Cathrine when I picked her up.

I was free this weekend so I decided to focus on the 389 slumbering under my hood. Here are Cathrine's original valve covers, I sanded them with steel wool and coated them with a metallic high temp paint... along the side is a few quarts of Cathrine's new oil (Castrol GTX high milage). This '63 had been running the same oil since the late 80s, :X sludge anyone??

In the coming weeks I plan to tackle the rust on my block. Taking off the intake and putting it in the parts washer, sanding the block, heads ect. Then coating the block, heads and intake with a couple of new coats of Pontiac blue. :) After that its on to the alternator and ps pump.

Thanks for checking it out. I bought it last fall and all my spare time and especially money has gone into it. The motor has been pulled out for a week now(bottom of page 3). I still have to call and see if the crank came back today. The rearend is getting the low dragstrip gears pulled for something a lil more parade route and daily cruizin friendly. But something with bite still. I could have bought a 360 motor already beefed up a little for $700 with no miles on it yet but decided to sink $2500 into the 340 I have. I'll have to keep it 20 more years to break even on it. lol
