"Project Crazy 8" has been a dream of mine for a long, long time...I have always loved cars and everything that goes with them; speed, noise, adrenalin, etc. etc. A V-8 in a miata has just been something that I had to do....seeing a little machine but hearing the roar and rumble of a Mustang!
What makes this build different from my other projects, the '69 Stang, '56 Chevy...is that one of these miata's is actually my car!
I will be building two other v8 miata's; one for my uncle Rich and another for a good buddy of mine, Wayne. Each vehicle will be unique from each other.
I have been researching v8 miatas for a long while. This has been a vehicle that I have heard and seen on the internet but I have not seen in person tell now. Originally I was going to take mine and basically gut (cut) out the inside and leave the shell. I was planning on making it a tube chassis....huge wheels and tires....etc.
But after purchasing the car....standing over it looking...humm...I chose to buy a v8 Miata kit from Martin Wilson. Martin is a super nice guy and will work with you and answer any questions you may have along the way, his web site is V8Miata.com...Good kit and if you look at the work and parts, he does a great job putting it all together...not to bad of a price either. I deviated from the kit just a little, but that is just personal preference.
I decided that leaving it more stock would be much cheaper and a lot quicker...I have what I call, "Final Pimp Stage", were I will eventually go back and make the car look like a show car, painting, inter. etc. (spend more money is what my wife calls it:O) )...but I still have some ideas for doing another more extreme Miata...5 lug, tubular a-arms, wider rear wheels and tires, full hidden cage and this car will have to be a hard top only (because of the cage, etc).
The other two miatas I fabricated and set up the various parts. Two trouble areas were the headers and springs. Remember we are trying to keep the cost to a minimum!

Uncle Rich and my Older Bro, Jason

This is the power steering line I had Tom make for me. It fits perfectly! Tom owns "Wilhite Auto Service" 200 W Washington St, in Derby, Ks....316-788-0514.

You may have even seen him and his wife in the Sunday paper featured in the "Wichita on Wheels" section of the Eagle. They have a few fast cars!

Uncle Rich and my older brother Jason. They have enthusiastic faces because it is after 1 in the morning!

Paul at Atlas Spring and Axle did my alignment, located at 4500 Irving St, Wichita, Ks...316-943-2386.

Yep, She's mine! :O)
Keep an eye out for JohnyMustang's, "Monster Miata Power Tour".
Stay tuned to Project Crazy 8 where I will not only be building one v8 miata but three.....enjoy the ride!
I will be updating the site as time permits.
