Initial modifications to the interior of the car were not made for quite some time. I had tossed a few ideas around and was looking around to get some ideas from other cars that I could see.

The first modification that you could concider as Interior, was also a performance modification. My short throw shifter arm. It lowered the handle about 2" from the stock height, and made the throw much shorter than stock. Initially I had adorned it with a purple golf ball as a handle, but finaly opted for a #12 pool ball that I drilled, tapped, and threaded on. Also in the pic below you can see the purple Ichibahn cig lighter I purchased.

I hand made a gage pod out of fiberglass to fit on the steering column. Then selectively painted certain sections of the dash in purple as an accent, and changed the factory door panel fabric as well. Below you can see the mold for the gauge pod, and then it, attatched to the top of the steering column.

I modified a single gage pod to fit the "A" pillar and inserted a boost gage that will, hopefully in the future, be actually reading boost. For now it only registers vaccume. Next to it is an AutoMeter Pro Shift Light that I flush mounted to the dash. No need for a rediculously oversized Tachometer atop the dash, the car already has one so, just the shift light was added. Tapped into the factory harness at the gauge cluster for the shift light. Rather simple really.

All three SPW gages are set to light up in purple at night. To date I have not yet found a way to get the shift light purple, so it lights up the standard amber color. May switch to a blue light later on but still want to try to get the light to be purple.

This is the new fully motorized 7" touch screen DVD I have installed in the dash. Got rid of the Pioneer unit I used to have, after it started failing on me. This thing is AWESOME!!!!!! Great sound and video from this unit.

Acompanying this is the 1600 wats in the trunk!!! A pair of Orion 10" 1000watt speakers in a "canon-fire" box, pushed by a BOSS Audio 1600 watt GT1080 amp. Got Bass?!?

To get ALL of the sound possible into the cockpit area and to stop the rear deck from rattling, I fabricated some holes in it. I cut two 4 1/2" diameter holes in the back deck and inserted some resonator tubes from an old speaker box into them to finish them off. No more rattle from the back deck and increased BASS in the cockpit.

I mounted the "B" pillar tweeters. They turned out real nice. You have to get right on top of them to even begin to see that they are modified into the pillar. The sound quality from placing them in this location is way beyond what I expected. They fill in the overall sound of the music similar to that of a surround sound unit. Nice addition.

This is them showing the modification and the desired location before I had them mounted. They were originally from a Hyundai Accent I found in a junkyard.

Then it was just to cut a hole and bond the two pieces togeather. Mounted pics below.....

Now on to the mounting of the SAFC unit into the dash. I had the option of mounting it on the dash, but for not attracting anyone to the car haphazardly, I opted for a less conspicuous location. Still easy to access, and visually see while driving.

The hardest part was getting both face plates identically sized to center the unit.

As you can see, in the 4th pic above, it mounted nicely in the middle. I did have to notch out the top and bottom of the cubby hole to hold it in place, and allow it to recess into the dash a bit. The face plates are chamferred to grip the sides of the unit and secure it into the opening. As well as holding the SAFC, they also look good finishing off around the radio.

Just found some replacement bulbs for my instrument cluster. They are an LED to take the place of an incandescent 194 type bulb. Of course I went with the Ultra Violet purple ones. The picture does not do them justice. My camera sucks at catching the color and the vividness of them. But, have a look anyhow.....,

Wow, just goes to show what a lil hard work can do! Never seen a rio this built up before, and definately not as great body modified as this one.
