I was at the dealer ship with my older sister and brother in law in september of 1979, when they were picking out options and making up their minds as to colours. Being 15 my advice wasn't paid attention to much but they did have good tastes.
All 1980 malibu classic landaus were two tone paint, so my sister and brother in law paid extra for the factory black laquer paint both upper and lower body sections, and with the vinyl top also being black, makes this a factory tripple black malibu. Now add the F41 sport suspension and factory braces, the bucket seats with floor shifter counsol, the dark claret cloth interior. These options made it one of only four 1980 tripple black malibu classic Landau sport coupes built!
I first got see her on December 17th 1979, she was only a few hours fresh from the dealership! It was love at first site!
The first time I got to drive her was early spring 1979, the tire marks are still on the floor of my sister's garage to this day. I got to take my driver's test with this beauty in september 1980.

It took me ten years to get my sister and brother in law to sell me their car.

It had been their daily driver, and though the paint was still quite nice, rust had taken hold of the frame and floors. I repaired the floors and had the frame welded up. So it was my nice weather driver for the next five years.in the spring of 1995 I lost my mind and sold the car!
when I returned to my senses I hunted and hunted to find the car and get it back. took me five and a half years. I found her and bought her back and put her in my garage drove her in the summer of 2002 then parked her in my garage and started to examine the rust on her under belly and frame.
This car's rust is bad enough to mean a lot of welding and money would be needed to do a quality near invisible repair.
I think this car requires more than a simple repair I want it to be brought back to how she was on december 17th 1979 when I first got to lay my eyes on her.
Even in it's current condition it's been apraised for more than she sold new, the apraiser confirmed that it is one of four built and added that it is now one of two still in existance.
A good buddy of mine was surfing ebay and called me up and said we are going on a road trip! I loaded up my wagon and we drove the 22 hours to Kansas where he introduced me to a rolling rust free frame and shell of a 1980 malibu classic landau coupe.
I now have a rust free frame and body shell that will go a long way in helping me bring back my black beauty to how she was on december 17th 1979.
this site is going to show the progress on the restauration of my black beauty.

these are shots of the rolling rust free frame and body shell.

original paint and boody, as you can see it was two tone with a vinly roof, the vinyl was removed by the pervious owner to check the sheet metal under it, and it was rust free.
