1987 Buick Grandnational:
Ok here's my story and I would encourage you to read and view further for the do's and dont's of owning a Grandnational!!!
The car at the time when the cam gear spun and caused all the damage you are about to see and read about was at approx 56,000+ miles. If you own one and have by some act of GOD have not changed the nylon cam gear you will after reading this!!!
While driving on the freeway at 65mph going to get my slotted/vented rotors I ordered, The engine shut down and believe me when I tell you there was absolutly not a peep from the motor indicating that there was internal damage. And no the music was not loud, infact it was off!!! After coasting to the next off ramp and looking a little closer as to what it might be, There was nothing but backfire when cranking (can you say crank sensor?) I wish!!! After a $100.00 tow home and running a little diagnosis I found the cam and crank signal not in sync (yep it is a crank sensor) After purchasing a crank sensor and installing it, I found that while rotating the crank by hand to set the gap there was a very very ugly sound that any car ownwer dreads to hear (metal on metal//klunk klunk) NOT GOOD!!!
And yes I check and change my oil like religion, full synthetic every 2500 miles.

This is closer to the end, But read first!!!

The wife and I just got back from a road trip the night before my nightmare began

Note the rounded teeth

GOT METAL

Thats not good is it????
