Welcome to my Corvette C3 page

Great White is a 1982 Chevrolet Corvette the Last of the C3 - SHARK - Design. The paint is original, interior in Dark Red Leather , powered by the forever young Small Block Chevy 350 V8    ( L83 ) with the unique and controversial Crossfire Fuel Injection, new for 1982 and also the Turbo-Hydramatic 700-R4 4 speed automatic transmission. Drives very nicely with Bilstein shocks on all corners and VBP Front Monospring and VBP Upper and Lower A-arms.

Watch The Corvette Shark Video

Play Shark Video in HQ

My 18 year old son Sverrir did the filming and editing and I must say that for his first car video

I think he did a great job ! He has now added another under his belt Porsche 911 C4S

Have a look and let me know what you think !

2nd Favorite angle

The swooping nose looks ready to devour pray in Jaws like fashion .

"Based on the Mako Shark II show car designed by Larry Shinoda and
displayed during 1965, the third-generation Corvette's styling was
flamboyant in its overall shape but restrained in its details. The
fenders seemed almost to burst over the tires, but there were no phony
scoops or extraneous chrome anywhere on the car. The nose seemed to
almost be plowing into the ground and used pop-up headlights to keep
things sleek . There was a slight kickup to the car's tail that was at
least a bit reminiscent of Chapparal Can Am racecars ."

In 1982 after 15 years it was finally sunset for the C3 Corvette.  No other generation has lasted so long and it's quite unlikely that any future one will have the same staying power .

The first time that I saw The Great White Shark !

It was Love at First Sight !

It is said that the C3 Corvette got design cues from the Coca - Cola bottle , you be the Judge .

Made my own front license plate !

The 1980 redesign resulted in that the drag coefficient fell from 0.503 to a more respectable 0.443 still more than most SUV's today, it's unbelivable that something this fastlooking has the aerodynamics of a barndoor !

The Hood on the 1982 Corvette has a solenoid operated door which directs fresh air directly into the air cleaner during full-throttle operation.

From 1978 on the Shark was completely transfomed from the notchback roofline to a sweeping fastback .

Following 17 years of absence, fuel-injection was brought back
during 1982, this time with the new ‘Cross-Fire Injection'
an electronic throttle body system.
It utilizes two injectors controlled by a computer capable of making 80 adjustments per second. The new fuel injection system upped the output of the L83 to 200 horsepower, not a whole lot but with gobs of Torque .

I fell in love with this body style , I've always been impressed with the sleek lines of The Shark

I had a great  Red 1977 L82 in the old days, I miss that one !

The bulging front fenders and the long front end are awsome !

In Florida there was no-way I could get any license plate that was Shark related - I resorted to using "HÁKARL" which is Icelandic for SHARK .  Which is a local delicacy eaten during the winter months.  Putrified shark is a tasty treat enjoyed in Iceland and downed with a healthy shot of Black Death which is a local spirit made from fermented potato pulp, and flavoured with caraway seeds. Yummy !

I have now added a front suspension kit from VBP complete with Monospring, Upper and Lower A-arms .  Took me 2 days to install with out any assistance and fitting New Brake Calipers with O-rings and Stainless Brakelines front and rear, at the same time.  Now I can adjust the ride height and all the components are much lighter - seems to ride firmer but gives great feedback .  I also lowered the rear ride height but I have some more adjustments to make and will probably lower the Vette one more inch front and back.  I am thinking about getting 18 inch wheels and I want to fit them first before the final adjustment.  I will probably go for the Huntington from Bonspeed Wheels , slightly modern but classic.  I love the orginal N90 aluminum wheels but they are only made in 15 inch sizes and I want premium rubber to go with the new suspension !!  When will someone make them in plus sizes !!!

Other items I am gunning for: I have now preordered the New Renegade Crossfire Manifold , which according to DCS will be delivered in early October.  Bought the Steeroid Rack and Pinion steering and DeWitt aluminium radiator for extra cooling .  Next on the list 3.55 or 3 .73 gear ratio, headers and new paint job if I could only decide on the color, keep it Great White or change to Black or Silver which will all conform with the Dark Red interior ?

From the introduction of THIS OLD CORVETTE one of the best Corvette books available:

"Corvettes are not just cars , they are an American icon revered around the globe.  They're a houshold name, art on wheels, a fantasy in curvaceous fiberglass, a full-throttled declaration of independence, a poke in the eye of the status quo, an obsession , a religion , a way of life .  If ever there was a legendary sports car, the Corvette is it."

In 1968, the C3 Corvette was inadvertently released a few weeks before General Motors’ official introduction due to the unveiling of Mattel’s Hot Wheels line of die-cast toy cars. But this marketing blunder did not stop the third generation Corvette from becoming what many believe to be the most recognized and noticeable Corvette design to date.

In 1965, the Mako Shark II debuted at the New York International Auto Show giving the world a glimpse of the body style that would that would become the third generation Corvette , the rest is history .

Thanks for the comment. However, out of all your cars, this is my favorite! Nice Stingray, and it's white. You have the best of both worlds, lol. Keep it clean and tasteful like we know it should be. Keep me updated. Peace
