While I was driving around to the local car lots, just to see what was out there, I already knew I wanted another Sunfire since I had already spent too much money on my 1996 2.2 OHV to not transfer at least the body parts. When I saw the car I was pleasantly surprised to find that it came with a few things already done?
- 16? Kazera KZ-U Rims
- Cross Drilled and Slotted Rotors
- Magnaflow Cat-Back Dual Exhaust
Once I got out of my car and took a look at the window sticker I saw something that seemed odd to me?16v DOHC. At that time I didn?t think they were available for the SE, but as most know it standard on the 2002.5 LSs and GTs, but also an option on the SE. Alright so now I have a 4-speed Ecotec, which has 42,000 miles on it, and a sticker price of $7,800. BTW, the sign on the rearview mirror said $6,700. Then I went in and talked to a sales rep so I could try the car out. After a few minutes he handed me the keys and got in it.
When I fired it up it had a nice deep growl, which gets a little raspy at higher RPMs, but still sounds beautiful. Cruising around town I could feel my smile getting bigger and bigger. By the time I got back to the dealer I was ready to sign and make this my new toy. Instead of doing just that I decided to let him know that I?d get back to him later and continue looking into what was out there. About two weeks later I got a call saying that the he was ready to deal.
The next day I stopped in and he asked me what he had to do in order to make the sale. I told him that if he dropped the price a little to account for the body work that was obviously done on the front bumper we?d call it a deal. At that moment he went to talk to the ?Boss? and came back with a price of $6,200 for it. Well, that?s what I ended up getting the car for and only financed $5,000 of it.
