the common shift problem for 03-06 chevy explained with pics

attention all 03-06 owners with a 5sp. pics added
i have the perfect fix for bad shifting and clutch not going in all the way and slowing shifts and grinding of gears b.cause of the clutch hitting the floor..

1. from factory the clutch pedal doesnt get pressed in all the way when you shift what happens is the pedal hit what appears to the the floor of the cab. false ....

2. this causes bad shifts, slower, harder, some grinding and binding..

3. if you try pressing in the clutch pedal harder is will see that it can drop about an into a inch and a half, but it will move to the right as if it is pressing up against somthing. well it is

the is the fix for all the complaints that gm says they have no fix for . . beleive it or not it will only take about 10minutes and it is free .. all you need is a knife.

here is the steps . iwill post pics as soon as i can my batteries were dead in my camera at the time and the phone camera sux.

1. pull the door still up and remove it from the truck. all you have to do is pull straight up on it and after it is loose. you can leave it there of slide the seat up and remove the small peice of it that is behind the seat .. either way will work and not be in the way..

2. pull the kick panel off on the drivers side. this is done by pull straight out on it toward the back of the cab. watch the hood release .

3. carefully pull the mat up from the bottom of the cab. just enough to get it way from the pedals .. all 3.

4. now you will see what appears to be a plastic cover..well it is .. what is it cover a peice of foam.. for padding ans soud damping ..

5. there is nothing under this other than that. on this plastic you will be able to see a bunch of scuff marks.. get your tool now.

6. what you are need to do is cust a notch in the plastic. about 6 inches loing and about 3 inches wides .. long being the way arrow is pointing on this smiling sign .. you will be able to see it marks ..

7. you will cutting more than you think will will need to but trust the person who you dont know but loves chevys..

8. replace everything and enjoy ..

this makes the clutch stoke longer. the way it should have been from the factory .. leave the padding and there will not be any more road nosie then you all already have .. and remember just b.cause my truck didnt have any wire under it is always better to be safe than sorry.. so when you cut the plastic be extra carful until you can see the padding and inpect it for yourself . per i am not resonsible for it .. especilly if the truck was used ..

this has given me the abilty to bang gears like a vette.. more more slow shifting and stall b4 the shifter drops in place ..

hope this helps sure did me

i tried the clutch thing and it seriously works, it makes the truck run a whole lot better, no more annoying grinding, when you kno you shifted right (imma young buck still learning)

Hey man, thanks for the comment. Yes my silverado does bottom out with the 2/4 drop. The front tires rarely rub the top of the innder fender with big high speed bumps. And the axle bottoms out on the frame occasionally, especially with a load in the bed. I've yet to do a frame notch, but it's coming soon.
