Autox240sx's 1966 Volkswagen Beetle

This is my first car, purchased when I was only 14. I pulled it out of a junkyard and bought it for $750.
It is a '66 Body and Pan with a 1641cc engine and the roof of a '57 oval window sunroof bug. It had been rolled over before I bought it, and we decided that it would be a little easier, and much cooler, to just convert it to an Oval Sunroof with a roof section that we found at a swap meet for $200.

It is Flame Yellow with Big Leauge Blue accents. The yellow is shredding off to reveal a checkered flag underneath.

The checkered theme is carried through to the interior with the door panels and checkered tint on the pop-out rear quarter windows.

It had a Blaupunkt head unit with 2 12" subwoofers, 2 6" and 2 4" speakers for a sound system. I forgot to bolt my speaker box down one time when I was romping around in the woods, and it flipped over and smashed my amp when I went airborne. One of the latest additions to my interior is a Grant GT racing steering wheel.

We took a standard bolt-in 6 point roll cage and added pipe until it was a welded-in 10 point cage, tying in the rear bumper and nerf bars.

Safety is furthered by 4 point harnesses and a fire extinguisher. Tires are 29 inch in the back and 28 up front, wheels are Ford Ranger aluminum with modified adapters.

Skidplates are planned, along with some new shocks and various little upgrades. I am going to overhauld it someday with 3 inch wider and longer trailing arms and raised spindles for the front...that will get the stance where i want it.

Be sure to check out my dad's Karmann Ghia. His Cardomain name is Kustomm, and there is a link to his page in my Friends section.

And now for some crazy baja action... check out page 2!

Dude your baja bug rocks. I love that tint on the back windows. In fact I want it on my baja. Any chance you know how I could get it? But yea your baja is one of the best that I have seen. Check my baja out and tell me what you think. Rate it if you like it.
