Thanks for viewing Ol' Camel! New 'Kill Mark' line up due for January; new wheels/tires in late February/early March; stripes, nose art, and spoiler in March; and more car shows to come!!

25/Dec/07
Just a wee update to prepare for the new year and the end of the 'Camel Hiatus!' I am set on wheels and am working on getting ready to finish the outside of the Camel. (This means stripes, nose art (the Camel Fursona), new line of kill marks, and the spoiler.) I think the earliest NiCO meet (in my area) is in Tennessee in March. I hope to be mostly ready by then... it'll mostly depend on when I get my tax return. The Camel is currently covered in road salt (and just shy of 22k) because of a random trip to Wisconsin to take my girlfriend home (she couldn't get a flight after all the cancellation craziness). I'm hoping to bathe the Camel this week (provided it stays mildly pleasant) and get a final round of pictures before I begin Phase II in February.

Obviously, I'm not getting the 5 lug version... there's an 8 lug version which has concealed lugs and that's what I'm getting.

Last night, I decided on the wheels and tires I am getting the Camel. And I am getting them with this income tax return.
Konig HotSwaps, 17x7, Gloss Black with red inserts:

The wheels are Yokohama S.drive 250/50R17
Total wheel package will cost $1350.

On November 18, 2007 a minivan and I met fenders...

The damage to the Camel was almost $1100... the insurance company covered it. The damage to the van was $920.

The Camel is fixed up, ship-shape!

...

Then at 3:30 am on November 22, 2007 some kids were chuckin' rocks off the overpass while I was driving US 23 in Michigan (near Brighton) and the Camel got it's windshield smashed...

That's fixed now (I got a new Nissan windshield... cost almost $700 with labor and molding)... I've got a new wiper arm on order and I needed to replace both wipers... yeah. Because it was Thanksgiving and I was in BFE, there were no services available till Friday so I went home for Thanksgiving anyway and drove with the busted windshield. w00t! It was fixed last Thursday... hopefully no more things are in the Camel's horizon. ... Back to a hiatus!!

I think I have found the wheels I like... The Enkei Performance Series WDM with Gunmetal finish... 16"

$124 per wheel, wrapped in Firestone Firehawk GTA 02 (High Performance All-Season) $87 per tire, which totals at $844... not too shabby... Yeah Tire Rack!

I don't know if these will still be around in a year and a half, but they look neat. I really don't like 5-spoke wheels and I'm not sure why that is... all I think of when I see them is starfish and I don't want starfish on my car... I'm happy with the stock wheels and tires for now, but I want to totally change things around when I need new tires.

Well, I'll have to disappoint. I wanted to post new pics when the digi came back... but we're on a water alert and not allowed to wash our cars until it is lifted (or they come and shut off your water, honestly!)... so there will be new pics posted... I just don't have any idea of when...

Here are some pics that CodeRed took of my Camel while we were at NOPI...

And here is CodeRed being a smart ass ;oD but we love him over at NiCO Club... he's a moderator O.o

And here's another pic of ol' Camel at NOPI...

NOPI was awesome... New pics of the Camel to come soon (the digi is on vacation with my mom at the moment... ;oD).
Things will probably slow down for ol' Camel. The spoiler is going to be shaped before it is installed and I don't know when I'll get that done. We'll see what the next few months bring. I do plan on getting a decal for the hood with my tax return money in February, so that may be the next time anything is done to ol' Camel.
Don't be sad ;oD I'll probably do little things here-and-there! And I'll be updating with pics in the next week to show off my headlight and kill marks.
I'll also post a to-do list for next spring soon so you guys know what is in store next for ol' Camel.
