Well i figured id to a how to on saving our glass fog lights from cracking.  I had mine crack, not sure if it was due to heat or road debris but at 50 bucks a pop i dont wanna keep replacing them.  So what i decided to do to combat road debris was to make plexiglass shields.

What you will need to do this:

hacksaw

benchvice

plexiglass ( you can get this at home depot.. i got some that was between 1/8 and 1/4 inches thick.)

ducttape

fine tip magic marker

bench grinder

clear silicone for glass windows ( should say on bottle can use with plastic as well)

Ok so what i did was to take out each foglight.  take your piece of plexi and lay strips of the tape over both sides of the plexi so you see no plexi just tape.  Next take you foglight and lay it on the plexi and take you marker and trace out the oval from the foglight on to the plexi.  Next take the plexi and get some thick hand towel or bath towel.  Put the plexi in the vice and surround it by the towel so not to damage it when you tighten the vice down.  Note:  do noty tighten excessively, just enought ot keep the plexi for moving.  Now for the patience part.  start cutting around your trace of the fog with the hack saw.  Once you gotten as close as you can get remove the plexi from the vice.  Now go to you bench grinder.  Put some safety glasses on and and turn on the grinder.  Now work the plexi on the grinder to remove the excess plexi not needed uptil you have just the trace of the plexi in you hands.  Make sure to keep moving the plexi so it doesnt burn or discolor.  Ok so now you have the shape to cover the fog.  Now peal the tape off the plexi making careful to be patient as you dont want to break it or create little hairline fractures around the edge.  once the tape is removed you can use some rubbing alchohol to remove the residue.  Again patience as it doesnt "just come off".  It make take a couple passes with the alchohol.  After the alchohol you can wax it to clean it further.

Ok so now it is made and needs to be installed.  Find something to sit the foglight on so the glass face is sitting level.  ok good.  Now take you silicone and make a bead around the fog about  1/4 inch thick.  now lay the plexi on top of the fog making sure to have it center.  Now ust work the plexi around a little bit. Like slowly and not a lot to seat the silicone to the glass and plexiglass. Once you have done this inspect to make sure it is sealed all around and there are no gaps to let water or anything in.

Ok so your basically done.  Let it sit for 2 days to let the silicone cure.  Once its cure take to a bucket of water and see if it is water tight.  If it is good you can put it on the car.  if not you can take dabs of silicone to fillthe gaps iff small enough.

If its bigger and will look like sh*t if you just dab the silicone you can take a razorblade to cut the silicone to remove the plexi making sure not to hit the plexi with the blade.  The silicone will come off the glass easy.  To get it off the plexi this is where the alchohol comes in again.  Try it again to get it right.

Once both are done and they are back i nthe car you will see no change in light output.  It does not disrupt the light direction.  It just helps with the pesky rocks and stupid drivers.

Below you can see what they look like.  I didnt think to write this till after i had already put everything together.
