This is a place to celebrate the Datsun that I always liked, the Datsun B210. Very much eclipsed in the US, in part because it was not offered ...jaimesix's 1976 Datsun B210 with the L series engine most other Datsun of the time had. The 510 Datsun did not have to endure the indignity of having to suffer ablation of it's beautifull bumpers in favour of the dreaded and notorious US market ugly "PARK BENCH" bumpers . The US authorities compelled automakers to install " PARK BENCH STYLE BUMPERS " due to the 5 mph bumper requirement era which in escence dictated that safety meant having a log for a bumper. The Datsun 510 exited the market in the US before the ablation operation and subsequent replacement of bumpers with notorious "PARK BENCHES" was ordered. It was a glorious exit for the Datsun 510 ( can you imagine a Datsun 510 with Park Bench Bumpers??? LOL.)
The Datsun B210's ( aka 120Y / Sunny ) form and shape was so much disrupted that it ended up looking like something completely different.
Non US B210s ( 120Y , Sunny ) look very attractive by comparison to the ugly ducklings " PARK BENCHED " bumpered B210s sold in the US.
The good thing about it is that this deleterious implementation is reversable.
The " Benches " can be left where they belong, at a " pic nic " park, and the right and intended kind of bumpers installed on any Datsun B210.
The only problem I found in trying to replace the ugly " PARK BENCH STYLE BUMPERS " with the proper kind of bumpers, is that the rear valance in the US version is not existent.
The ablation process by which the Datsun B210 got defaced in clear detriment to it's beautifull shape and contour, included ablation of the rear valance. Perhaps , Datsun manufacturers probably thought about " Saving " some metal, due to the fact that the " PARK BENCH " bumpers were so big and distortive that by it's own nature and size the park bench styled bumpers rendered the rear valance unnecesary, because it could not be seen from behind under such monstruous Park Benches as bumpers.
The fact that there is an absence of a rear valance could become a hindrance to any plans for restoring the right look to this otherwise beautifull vehicle , but the rear valance can be manufactured, or else imported from overseas. Fortunately , this piece is not a complicated or extraordinary part of the vehicle , and it can be easily manufactured with the help of a good metal fabricator.

Datsun B210, 120Y, Sunny or any other names Datsun / Nissan was using at that time in any particular place in the world jaimesix's 1976 Datsun B210 was a vehicle with plenty of potential in all its different configurations. This swift Datsun was available at different places around our planet with OHV A series motors A12 , A13 , A14 , A15 or with the SOHC L series motors L14 or L16 . Datsun Japan had a performance catalog so that this performance Datsun could be enjoyed as such by all Datsun smart owners and enthusiasts, no reason why only Datsun factory Racing B210s should have all these great performance parts within reach.
Plenty of Datsun B210's ( Datsun 120Y and Datsun Sunny as it is known overseas.) This Datsun has plenty of racing heritage. Famous all over South America , Australia, Europe , Asia and Africa......jaimesix's 1976 Datsun B210 jaimesix's 1976 Datsun B210
