Monaco12's 1991 Lotus Elan

Picked up the car in Florida last March and imported it to Canada. The Elan was not road legal for Canada until 2006 when at 15 years old, it is considered a "classic" and no longer has to meet Tarnsport Canada regulations.

Car is original with 60K on the clock. The only mods previous owner made where the wheels. I am considering updating them.

Interior is clean and original. I will be re-doing or replacing the seats. I find that they have lost their lateral support and I find I slide in them when I corner. I also want to change the steering wheel but having trouble finding the right hub. In addition, I installed clear front flasher lenses and plan to make some clear lenses for the front and rear side markers.

I also collect die-cast cars. Unfortunatly there is only one known die cast of the 91 Elan and is not high quality. It is the blue one in the photo. I bought 2 on E-bay and decided to modify one to match my car. It came apart easily and was not too difficult to modify. Just a little time and a steady hand.

Thanks Tigerdog. It was a great coincidence to be placed next to the '63. Great photo op.

Nice photos, Claude! I especially like the shot with the 91 and 63 Elans side by side. There's nothing like a bit of family heritage, is there?

Nice Elan Claude! You mentioned that finding the right steering wheel hub is a challenge. My suggestion would be to try out some GM hubs. If you remember, GM had ownership of Lotus at the time and if you compare your steering wheel to a Pontiac Trans Am of the same era, they look very similar. Just look at the interior shot in GP_GTP_99's member page at http://www.cardomain.com/ride/414052. I would assume they share the same steering column? I'm curious if this works so let me know if you ever get to try it.
