This is my old mans weekender, only really gets driven once every month or two. When he was going through his midlife crisis he was looking around for a nice sporty car, looked at trans ams, de tomasos and a few others. Then he came across this, was down in melbourne. Had it RACV inspected or whatever it is, they gave it the all clear. Him and my mum flew down to Melbourne, took it for a drive around the block, bought it and drove it home.
The gt series came out with the 2.6L V6 rearmount in them, and I am 99% sure that the 6 odd gts in Australia where imported, due to the fact that they are left hand drive (this one has been converted)
It has a dual exhaust system and sounds absolutely mint. It's a challenge getting in and out of it though due to how low it is. This car gets a LOT of looks, but at the same time, a lot of people just want to race, which of course we don't.
Has had a new clutch put in it. One of the few times we send one of our cars to a mechanic, because to get at the clutch, they actually have to take the body off the car. Sony mp3 player, some nice seatcovers and a few little things in the engine bay. Once the current engine kicks the bucket, we plan on ordering a pontiac 3.8L V6 for it. Another job we will probably be getting a mechanic to do.
These are old photos that we recieved on calling the owner, I shall take new photos sometime tommorow
