This is my 1994 Subaru SVX LS. I bought it for $1,100 with 109,xxx miles on it and a salvage title because of this.
Here's a pic with a new OEM fender and corner light.
Well I fixed a lot of the body work because it has a good bit of dings and paint chipping/dying back. I have already fixed some repairs from the previous owner like the rocker panel. It was replaced some time ago and the person who did the repair did it wrong so I put in a backing plate, plug welded the top and bottom of the plate, and filled the holes where the old weld line was with new. Thier was also a gap under the door sill with I didn't like so I filled that also.
I filled the welded area with some USC Duraglass which is a fiberglass compound that is hard as a rock, then I filled that over with some glazing putty to fill in any imperfections such as pinholes. After all the sanding was done I primed the area along with some stone chips on the edge with some primer. If you look at the rocker molding below you can see how it's all stone chipped along the edge because the rocker was put on wrong from a previous wreck. I tried my best to get it as flush with the outer door molding as I could but it still gets blasted with stones but not as much. I eventually want to get some fiberglass side skirts and shave them on the inside so they will fit flush like I want them.
I also have a used fender to replace my passenger side fender which is pinched in.
Got all the dents out of my right side quarter panel fixed, resurfaced my rear bumper, fixed some stone chips, and sanded my wing down for primer.
Trunklid, doors, primered.
Now that the body work is done it's time to spray the door jambs.
After the jambs I got the car masked off and ready to spray the tricoat black metallic (also called Black Glass Flake) two-tone on. It's in sealer now.
Now to spray the red on the very bottom of the trunk lid, then mask it off and spray the black basecoat followed by two coats of metallic midcoat. Here's a pic of me going out of my mind by spraying at 12a.m.
Now everything has two good, wet coats of clearcoat on them.
Here's some pics of the body finally going into the paint booth for me to spray it.
Then it's time for the moldings/bumbers to be painted. Also pics of the new OEM rear quarter moldings and front bumper.
After all of the paint work is done it's time for a light sanding to remove any dirt and buff it back to a shine for reassemble.
Finally after all the hard work some fresh pictures taken the day after it's been reassembled.
I removed the old, faded waterfall grill and added the 1997 style grill in its place which the paint matched 100%. I also resurfaced my yellowed headlights by sanding them down with 600-2000grit sandpaper wet. After they were smooth I put three good, heavy coats of strong UV resistant clear coat over them so the look almost brand new.
NEW PICS.........................
I recently ordered the OEM SVX hood protector at work.
