when we finally got moved to our new house, i had started taking off the front clip. as you can see in the pictures, the front sub-frame is in restorable condition so that saves a few hundred bucks.lol. I was so happy to see that the bakc trunk area was not rusted through at all and that it is as solid as the quarter panels. the only parts of the back that i have to even beging ot look at is the bottom corners which you will see i the two picture set below.

giitarmann2's 1980 Pontiac Firebird giitarmann2's 1980 Pontiac Firebirdits not so much the left side but the right side has a minor crack in the metal, and im gonna have to seal that back up. but other than that the back end is completely fine from what i have found so far.

giitarmann2's 1980 Pontiac FirebirdThis is the back passenger quarter panel corner, the deal this is that the last owner had the car parked next to a fire pit and it accidently caught fire and burned the corner spoiler and the corner of the rear bumper skin, now i do have a diffrenet rear bumper skin and a differenet corner spoiler from another trans a. you might be able to see them in some of the other pictures.

giitarmann2's 1980 Pontiac Firebirdgiitarmann2's 1980 Pontiac Trans AmThis is the passenger door afte ri started sanding and grinding it down the primer and down to bare metal. there were a few spots here and there that were rusted but nothing to big. The other picture is just of the driver door and how far i have gotten on it. i'm not really gonna mess with this to much cause after i got to looking at it, It just needs a little bit of scuffing down and primered.

giitarmann2's 1980 Pontiac FirebirdThis is the inside trunk floor, there is a small hole in the bottom corner if you can see it. but thats really that only thing left on the trunk part, all but ht etrunk door. but its being replaced.

giitarmann2's 1980 Pontiac Firebirdgiitarmann2's 1980 Pontiac FirebirdThis is the left corner of the trunk door, which as you can see its not in good shape. the right side is just as bad, so thats why Im just gonna buy a new one. the right corner did have a piece of metal around it but i finally fell off.

giitarmann2's 1980 Pontiac Firebirdgiitarmann2's 1980 Pontiac FirebirdThis is a picture set of my new fenders that were bought last year at a salvage yard in granit city ill. the orginal fenders i no longer have because the driver side was badly smashed and the passenger side was rusted away.

giitarmann2's 1980 Pontiac FirebirdHere is the skeleton of the driver door, nothing much with this but the bottom corner which you cant see at the moment. The passenger door is in about the same condition as this one. both doors do have a little bit of rust at the bottom corners but nothing else.

giitarmann2's 1980 Pontiac Firebirdgiitarmann2's 1980 Pontiac FirebirdThis is a picture set of the front core support. now the only small problem I have would be what you can sort of see from the picture on the right, but the left corner is a little bit rusted but nothing to big.

This is the back bumper of the car. Its not in bad shape at all, i was really suprised to see it in such useable condition. really other than that the bumper itself is in really good condition.

giitarmann2's 1980 Pontiac Trans Amgiitarmann2's 1980 Pontiac Trans AmHere is some recent shots of the back bumper and what i have done to it. 2/16/09

giitarmann2's 1980 Pontiac Trans Amgiitarmann2's 1980 Pontiac Trans Amthese are shots of the front bumper after its first spray. I have already completed srpaying it so it is done and ready to be put away until i need it.

giitarmann2's 1980 Pontiac Trans Amgiitarmann2's 1980 Pontiac Trans AmThis is a picture set of the back bumper skin. its not in that bad of shape, all i may need to do is a little of sanding on some of the litte rough edges but nothing else.

giitarmann2's 1980 Pontiac Firebirdgiitarmann2's 1980 Pontiac FirebirdWell here is two pictures of the rear end, or at least the best that i could get at the moment. well as you can see the rear end is in really good shape from what you can see. the leaf springs are in reuseable condition so thats a nice plus.
