wouldya’s 2007 Mazda Miata MX-5

I got some new meat on the rims this week. I added a set of firestone fireshawk wide oval 215/45/17's from the tire rack at $125 each. the car feels absolutely glued to the road and the ride is much quieter than the stock proceedas. the downside is reduced mpg due to increased weight.

I had her up to 110 mph with the top down a few days ago on a nice stretch of road. Don't think I'll go past that. It was turning about 5000 rpm in sixth. I recently had my resonator removed. It's a cheap alternative to a noisy, boomy aftermarket exhaust. The car is breathing better in the upper rpm's and it's got a little more attitude without attracting much attention.

Here's some pics of the interior with the voodoo knob. I also painted the inside of the gauge hood chrome to try to add some much needed bling to the all black interior. Unfortunately, if I didnt tell you about it, you would Never notice it. The angle of the hood interior is such that you would have to practically stick your head in there to see it. It doesnt even seem to magnify the light from the gauges at night. Oh well, I tried. Also, I added some thick padding beneath the seat covers to make the stock seats more comfortable. The seat covers are a little loose fitting, so I was easily able to get the padding in there and adjust it for back and butt support. And here's some brand new pics without the rear badges. Make sure you use sticker and adhesive remover if you do this. I love the cleaner look.

OK, forget the radiator mod........it's removed for now. I am going to include a pic of my XM satellite radio install and my resonator removal. And finally, a better closeup of the mod too subtle to see, the chrome painted inner gauge visor. I added a car kit for my Samsung Helix XM radio. It's not the greatest or cleanest install but it works great and is easily moved to my other vehicle. My favorite radio show. If you don't like it, I don't care, if you don't know what it is, you're missing out! I took the MX5 emblem from the trunk and mounted it on the dash to spice up the interior, The Samsung has also been moved to the lower console. The new install is much cleaner now.

These are pics from my recent first autocross event with Martin Sports Car Club in florida. The members were all very professional and polite, it was a terrific time. The NC is a natural on the course. Drove it pretty hard, but definitely could've pushed harder. Left it in second gear and just hammered it around the turns. The car is still stock in the suspension department and from the pics you can there is plenty of body roll. Sometime soon, I'm going to invest in springs or sway bars. If you haven't tried autocross yet, I highly recommend it, there's nothing like beating on the car in a safe environment.

The top left pic is pretty new showing front and rear spoilers .    The front is a custom idea and the rear is by Goodwin Racing. Here's some poor quality pics of my new addition, 17inch Sparco Racing rims. approx 15lbs each! I'll post better pics when the sun shines again in florida later this week. They look bad ass! Check out my new video of the Cobalt cold air intake and my new Enthuza 2.5 inch midpipe with Magnaflow resonator! big bump up in power!  Just added Lamin-x taillight lenses in red. Really cleans up the back.   I've completely changed the back end of the car from stock, painted the rear emblem and roll hoops black and added a black aftermarket spoiler that cost me $100 bucks instead of $300 from mazda. Installed myself ad did a great job.  OK , we MX5 owners have good news !!  I just began testing my car with new ecu programming from Sniper Tuning in Sanford florida.       So far the car has more power and torque throughout the entire power band. All claims have been verified by dyno runs. Sniper Tuning will release dyno claims and numbers after more testing.   The car finally feels the way it should.        I just added my VooDoo textured black Magnum this afternoon. All I can say is "Wow " If you don't have one yet on your MX-5, you can beleive the hype. It's one of the cheapest mods you can add, and has a very noticable effect on the car's performance feel. This is my 07 Touring model in Stormy Mica Blue. 6 spd, with the six speaker stereo system and base suspension. This car is going to receive many mods in the next year, but at the moment she's pretty much stock. I've added a K n N air filter which is surprisingly effective for a drop in filter. Throttle response is amazing compared to the stock filter. She now lurches for the red line with a more aggressive growl. I'd love to know how much better the cold air intakes work considering the time and expense. I'll be adding an aftermarket exhaust soon, tinted windows, racing stripes and as much as I can afford to do. Driven every day in florida, top down 95% of the time. Zoom on !

Ran my first autocross today, aug 12th. competed in the novice category against 22 rivals. some of the competitions rides were S2000 's and RX8's. I managed to come in 2nd place, the guy who beat me was driving a VW R32. the car was an absolute blast to drive, can't wait to see how much better she'll get after I start putting on some serious upgrades. She's still almost stock. Just added the rear mud guards.
