This is the story of Everard, my little 900 project. I bought this car for spares for my other 900's (see other ride), but when I got the grim and crap off it, I reckoned it was worth saving. So began the build of a rather fast 900. First pic coming up, the sorry state he was in when he arrived:

Dented drivers door, mirror held on with packing tape. But structurally sound. A bit of spit and polish and he looked like this:

Not bad for ?50!

Then the plan was hatched. Engine came out, and was split down. New core plugs added, new exhaust manifold (off a 99Turbo for reasons that will become apparent), new gearbox put on (4 speed chill cast), Saab 9000 Aero Clutch and Fly Wheel (std clutch gives up the ghost at 230BHP), New timing chain (engine is out, it would be silly not to do it properly), stripped cleaned and back in. Had to modify the starter motor bracket to mate to the new 9000 flywheel, but other than that seemless.

Engine back in, new engine mount bushes, solid ally for the front, poly's for the sides.

Gearbox brace added just behind the diff housing to reduce flexing, the major killer of 900 boxes.

Now we start on the custom intercooler:

All in on custom piping, lots of Samco and patience!

Air intake moved to below left hand headlight.

Starting cutting for the side exit exhaust:

5th Injector is being mounted in intake pipe, about 6" from throttle body in attempt to get some decent dispersal of fuel and to stop the valves burning.

Suspesion has been lowered 2", anti roll bars removed. Car now has no interior to save on weight. All looms and excess is cut and out.

Next few weeks will see some frantic activity as the new turbo is coming (T3/T4 Hybrid), along with the external wastegate that will fit directly onto the 99turbo manifold (see, told you it was coming).

More pictures to follow.

Once the engine build is complete (4week, or 2 weekends if you will) then the car is off for a tune. Looking for the mythical 300BHP out of this beauty. Watch this space for updates......

What size FMIC is that? Did you have to do much "trimming" to get the piping to fit?

I've forgotten, are you putting a 16v fuel rail in this thing? or going with the standard injectors?
