The Phoenix Rise From The Ashes
Most of you from Trans Am Country and 78TA.com know the story of how this project started. Last December our fellow TAC member Bighooch started a thread titled Dragon needs a car. Bighooch is the man who last year acquired a group of neglected cars that has become known as The Atlanta Horde. He has been slowly selling them as project cars or parts cars and bringing them up from Georgia to Indiana and has now decided to give one of them to me. (An honor I never thought I deserved.)
So we started to go over the cars he has. He sent pics of a number of cars for me to choose from and even took the time to get under the ones I liked and make sure they were solid enough to be able to be restored. Finally after several days we found it. This 1978 Trans Am with Fisher T-Tops and WS6 suspension package. Originally she was gold with tan interior, but at some point in her life she was repainted yellow and the interior was changed over to red. (What little is left needs to be replaced again so I will be going to black.) Even the machined dash bezel was replaced with a woodgrain one. Theres not much left now, but shes solid with the exception of floor pans.
I cant tell you what it means to me to be the recipient of this wonderful gift. It goes to show what kind of man Bighooch is. As well as all the other members who have donated money to have her delivered from Indiana to North Dakota and all the offers of parts. I only hope that the work I do is worthy of all of this. But I promise you all this, The Phoenix will be the greatest creation that Dragonfire Automotive and Custom Cars ever produced.
