In 1966, just out of High School I purchased a 1966 Tempest Sprint. In May of 1967 I married my childhood sweetheart. Shortly thereafter, due to circumstances that newly married couples face, I had to sell one of my sweethearts. Of course I chose to sell my Pontiac Tempest. But I was smitten with my Sprint and in my heart of hearts I knew that someday I would own another.

On February 27, 2006 I purchased a 1966 Pontiac Le Mans Sprint on E-bay. A major Restoration project was then embarked upon.

Starting with the suspension, wheels and tires my dream of owning that original love began.

From there we completely rebuilt the engine, adding a Sigma6 header by PrimaTech MotorSports in Califorina, electronic ignition and a aluminum radiator. The rear end is a 3:55 with a limited slip differential.

The car came from Califorina with 90,000+ original miles. There was little rust. We did a color change, from Candlelight Cream to Martinique Bronze (the color of my car in 1966 ). We detailed the engine and re-stripped the car. We rechromed the bumpers and replaced any trim that needed it.

The interior was in pretty good shape. We did replace the carpet, headliner, door and window handles, and recover the two front buckets.

There are many little things to do and will be done over the next few months.
