Your rims look a lot like mine but bigger. I have 20" dub shorelines. Nice!

I put Ground Force Lowering Springs on my 2002 Explorer and they worked great. I don't think there are any differences in the 2006 model. I am running B&G Springs on the Aviator. Mine is AWD and the lowering did not affect anything. One thing I still want to get is the Caster/Camber Kit. The camber gets offset due to the drop.

The 22's look good, is lowering on your list of to do's? Check out my Avi (lowered 2 inches).
