Alright, well now there is an engine so the race car can be finished!
Rad & Fan
I tried several Pic/n'Pull fan prospects but did not get a good fit that mounted readily. So in went a new Trimline 108 10-inch fan, with the push-through-the-rad mounting pins. I used a rad from an automatic Festi, as they are thicker than the manual ones.

Exhaust
A 2 1/4 inch open exhaust with Magnaflow open muffler were used. The pipe bent 90 degrees to exit just in front of the rear axle on the passenger side. Thanks to ABC Muffler and Hitch of Edmonton for a beautiful job.

Seat
I used the stock seat frame, but cut out the two cross bars in the middle, and had new bars welded in (thanks to Randy B) to support the Kirkey seat. It was placed inside the stock frame to get it far enough back, and low enough, with a bit of a tilt.

Gauges
All race cars need instrumentation. A tach and vacuum/boost gauge were installed on the left, and an oil pressure and coolant temp gauge on the right. There was room for one more on the right, but after a test drive I realized I wanted the boost gauge near the tach. The oil pressure was tapped off the NPT on the oil send port. The 1/8 inch NPT coolant temp sensor was mounted with an Autometer metric adapter #2268 (M16 x1.5 mm to 1/8 NPT) in the coolant temp switch port (originally for the rad fan) on the coolant outlet port from the head.

And it's ready to be off to the races! Hope all goes well, shiny side up and all that.
Here it is happy in its garage, and with a new decoration to go with its Vulcan origin.

More photos after race day!

One Cold Race Day

We all went out and froze on a -20 C race day. The car ran well, finishing third out of 10 or 12 in its first race.

Amazing work! You had some real roadblocks in the building, but you overcame them! Nice job, and really professional for the small budget. 5 stars!

Hey, nice car. I was looking into a Festiva so I can retire my beater to the back of the garage. Are the stock 1.3L engines reliable or would I be better off for the 1.6L swap as you have done? Just thought I'd ask the owners of these cars. I figure they could fill me in on the specifics.
