bmxer_617's 1985 Honda CRX

This is my 1985 Honda CRX HF. I bought it for $800 and thought it was a good deal, I was wrong.

Before I got the car it was sitting in a garage for around eight years so I was told. It had a blown out brake line to the drivers rear and the was a few rust issues that I knew about.

I had never really done any serious work to cars before so I was a little scared to do the brake work and it sat for several months. I finally took it to a shop to get the brakes fixed and the guy told me the car was not worth fixing because the A-Frame was rusted out against the body.

I did not know what this was at the time so I tried to sell the car for $500ish but I found out that no one wants to but a car with no brakes and a shot frame.

It sat again for a month or so and then my dumb ass got tired of not having a working car and I decided to drive it with no brakes or insurance (Really smart).

In the time that I was driving it (!!!alot!!!) I started to here a very loud grinding noise whenever the clutch was released and the clutch started to slip to the point that the car was no longer drivable.

We pulled the engine and trans a week or two later.

I assumed that this noise was the throw-out bearing but it wasn't. It turns out that the main bearing in the transmission had the cradle come off and shred through the trans and the seal was also bad.

There was no real damage to the trans because of a magnet in the bottom that caught almost all of it.

So far me and a few of my friends have fixed the brake line, fixed two holes in the trunk area, put on new front pads, rotors, and struts that I Painted to go better with the car, a new passenger side ball joint and arm, cut out the bad part of the floor, installed a new thermostat, painted the oil pan, and put on a new oil pan gasket.

And here is the only reason that I am even atempting to do all of this work and a picture of the custom shifter that I made in my metals class.

Hi
I hope you have a Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year. I know votes are not always that easy to come by so I gave you a 5* vote.

Good Luck,
