Going from a 305 Crossfire motor to a small block 350 Chevy.
The original 305 motor wasn't powerful enough so I've decided to place an order on a 350 Chevy 5.7 L motor. I went on-line to see if there are any local shops in the area that can do an engine swap, and lucky for me I found a shop in Detroit, MI that does that kind of work. The name of the business is called Michigan Motor Exchange and it's located on 8 Mile Road off the I-75 expressway. If you're wondering what the price quote was to do the swap with all new parts, I ended up spending about $2,800. I felt a difference in driving and performance. Basic 305 motors have about 175 HP, while this 350 engine has 330 HP. VRRROOOOM! The car wanted to just take off everytime I put my foot on the gas. :)
Before pic of the old 305 Crossfire motor and the engine bay pretty dirty. YUCK!
After pic of the 350 5.7L motor, and the engine bay all restored by my bro, Hamid Sutton.
To power up all of those electronics and goodies, I have a chrome 140 AMP alternator, yellow Optima battery and another battery mounted in the back of the trunk.
I don't know if you noticed in the pictures, but I purchased a red scanner from Brenon Fulbright (Ivirscar from KnightFoundation.net). He has different scan modes that's all programmed into the remote, and it does make the scanning sound effect!
Here are some other pictures I would like to share with you.
There are 3 sets of fog lights now mounted, but only 1 set is used for turn signals to make it street legal.
I got a Flowmaster Dual Exhaust installed 6 months ago and it sounds so awesome. The tips are about 2 or 3" in diameter. I took the pictures from my camera phone back in August 2006.
KITT enjoying the nice outdoor weather on my driveway.
Update for 2/17/06: I bought a set of GoodYear Eagle GT-HR tires for my car about a month ago. The original KITT car back in the 80's had GoodYear Eagle GT's so I figured I should get a complete set with the same name. I'll get pictures when it's nice and warm out.
Update for 3/12/07: Over the weekend, my brother and I have been working on horn wiring and we're almost done. The horn button my brother got from AutoZone was crap because it gets stuck whenever you try to push it. He found some better ones from the Radio Shack website so he's going to stop by at the store tomorrow afternoon and pick one up.
