19Merc72's 1972 Mercedes-Benz 300E Last summer I got this '72 300sel 4.5 from a collector in SoCal, with 66k original miles. I've driven it for almost 4k more since then.

The paint is about 7 years old and looks great. The interior is perfect with White MB Tex seats and headliner, and Navy blue carpet & door panels, and beautiful wood trim everywhere.19Merc72's 1972 Mercedes-Benz 300E
19Merc72's 1972 Mercedes-Benz 300E I got the car with an older Pioneer stereo in the dash, and Pioneer 6" speakers mounted in the stock locations in the front kick panels, and in the rear deck. It sounds OK, and the dash didn't need to be modified...but I hate the way it looks so out of place!

I just got this original Becker AM/FM unit that looks appropriately gawdy and will really make the dash loook more vintage, but I just heard from a friendly Mercedes Nut, that they don't have that great of sound!! I'll put it in and see for myself.

It's loaded with floor mounted 3 Speed AT with console, PS, 4 wheel PDB, AC, PW, PDL, Power Sunroof, AC, and the huge 4.5 motor. 19Merc72's 1972 Mercedes-Benz 300E19Merc72's 1972 Mercedes-Benz 300E
300sel's are the top of the line sedans which are several inches longer through the rear doors (for increased comfort for the "Fat Cat" in the back seat!).

They all came with a factory independant Air Suspension, featuring air-bags front and rear, that allow the driver to adjust the ride height +/- 3 inches! It also provides a killer ride with sports car handling. 19Merc72's 1972 Mercedes-Benz 300E
The 4.5 will smoke the tires like a muscle car, and still cruise the Autobahn at 125 mph, with the highest level of comfort for hours.

This car was made for the US, it has 2 headlights stacked on each side.19Merc72's 1972 Mercedes-Benz 300E19Merc72's 1972 Mercedes-Benz 300E
I got these rare European headlights at a swap-meet recently (they're spendy!) I've seen them on other cars and wanted a set, but after mounting them, I'm not sure which style I like best...!?19Merc72's 1972 Mercedes-Benz 300E19Merc72's 1972 Mercedes-Benz 300E

the one piece headlight looks better to me. it gives the car a smoother, sleeker look. either headlights are good though

Your car is beautiful. I just purchased a 72 300sel 4.5 from original owner. I'm in SoCal and would like to know where I can get parts for cheap. Let me know. Great car
