Here is the stock dash of the car with my first Alpine radio. It couldn't even play a burned CD.

I decided it was time to upgrade. Here is my Alpine F#1 Status headunit and an Icon 8.4 inch widescreen, touchscreen. The screen will control a computer, that is going to be hidden in the center console.

This is the "after" picture once we molded the dash piece to accommodate the new equipment. No fiberglass or Bondo has been used. This is simply re-shaped plastic.

Now that the dash has been remolded, the Alpine radio and the Icon touch screen fit perfectly. Our goal was to make this modification look stock. Did we succeed?

Since the screen and the radio take up the whole dash, we needed to figure out where to put the heater controls. They were formerly in the dash. We relocated them to the center console. Here are the "before" and "after" pictures for your consideration:

In case you are wondering what the big red ball in the center console is, it is the trackball of a Logitech mouse. You can also see the scroll wheel and two small 'left' and 'right' click buttons. The mouse was plastic-molded into the center console in case I did not want to use the touch-screen to control the computer.
Here is a shot of what the center console used to look like:

And here are some "in-production" pics of the center console:

The Alpine F#1 Status head unit also comes with a processor display. We decided to mount the display in the headliner. This is a picture of what the dome light looked like when it was stock (minus the suede).

Here is a pic of the display and the plastic dome light that we re-shaped and re-molded.

This is the almost-finished product. As you can see, we have incorporated the trim panel into our new plastic mold.

Here is the finished product:

By now you may have noticed that the once-cloth seats have been re-upholstered in black leather with perforated suede inserts. The headliner is all suede, as are the A, B, and C pillars, the back dash, and the doors. Even the 3rd brake light has been upholstered in suede. Here are some pics of the upholstery process.

Next on our To-Do list were the door panels. It was not possible to fit a decent speaker into the stock door panels because of the shallow depth of the panels. We had to make wooden baffels and shape the wood to obtain the "stock" look.

We also experimented with adding 3 additional guages on top of the vent cluster. This piece is made out of 100% ABS plastic and was shaped to mimic the curve of the guage cluster of the speedometer.

Now let's take a look at what the trunk used to look like back when it was stock. I can barely remember those days. In fact, the picture is so old I had to scan it because it was not taken with a digital camera.

The next few pictures were taken over the course of a week of fiberglassing.
