Pic1 is the BBR Shark, the current A-mod champ. The fastest autocross car in the world. This picture is during a hillclimb and it shows the top element from each wing removed for higher speed. The Shark has a highly modified 2 stroke snowmobile engine with 200hp+. The minimum weight with the driver is 900lbs for A-mod. With all elements in the wings the Shark can probably pull more than 2.0g steady state cornering at autocross speeds (under 80mph typically). The Shark, Phantom, and the upcoming Vancouver Special are so quick they need the snowmobile CVT clutch "transmission" because the driver doesn't have time to shift. I hope I can get my car to 95% of this one.

Pic2 is an early SolidWorks model of my basic frame and drivetrain.
Pic3 is the Phantom.

The basics: 13" Hoosier slicks, A-arm pullrod suspension, 3 element wings, 140HP 4 stroke engine with supposedly a turbo modified pontential of 550HP, helical LSD.

What actually exists: 98% complete tube frame, custom diff housing, engine, clutches, A-arms, and piles and piles of parts.

I plan to share my design, drawings, and CAD models with anyone crazy enough to copy me. I would love too see a lot more A-mod cars compete.

A sample of my drawings: a 94 Miata rear knuckle.
Three views of my everchanging chassis design. This one is already old news- many changes and additions.

Chassis as of 12/04

The birth of my twin boys put this project on hold for about a year. The birth of my daughter will slow progress to a crawl again in 4 months.

Basic chassis design almost complete:

A-arms are welded, the car should be on the ground mid-Feb.
Here is a drawing of my 2nd revision of wing profiles. I'll revise again and then compromise my flaps(2nd and 3rd tier) by using cheap import tuner wing elements.

Current pile of parts.

Front uprights and A-arms.
