The hitch installed, the second pic doesn't show the third bolt
which I added later on.

The 2" receiver which I had in my collection of junk, I don't know where it came from!!!
It looked usefull, so I decided to use it. It came with the bolt already welded on it. So I bolted it unstead of the regular 2" ball.
I had a friend weld it ALSO to the flat tongue, I didn't want install it UNDER the flat tongue because the van is very low and would make the hitch too low and I would have to cut and reweld the loops under tongue that are used for the safety chains.

I cut the molding on the bumper all the way back to the metal so that the square hitch fits.

By modifying the original draw-tite hitch from ball mount to a 2" receiver (when you actually install the 2" hitch mount w/ball), the new ball is farther than the original ball design.
This extra length can creat more stress/flex on the hitch when you attach the trailer, so I ended up adding a third bold to the hitch/bumper. If I knew how to weld, I would have added more support to the whole thing.

All these great looking vans.Do you guys know a good place for parts? I am looking for the steering middle arm [or link] for my 1985 Toyota van. I already have a new idler and pitman arms. But no one seems to know what I am talking about. All the wrecking yards here in my part of Texas have crushed all their old vans. If anyone knows a wrecking yard or a hard to find parts place that would handle it please E-mail me at OverkillHarvill@Gmail.com

Dear Ben, you got a very good idea. I was thinking how to hitch a trailer to may Toyota Van EFE 89. Now your idea is helping me. Thanks.
