CUSTOM SCANMASTER INSTALL

1999TransAmWS6's 1999 Pontiac Trans Am

This page is for my custom LS1 Scanmaster install. For those of you that aren't familiar with the Scanmaster, it's a tool that plugs into your car and monitors all of its sensors. It can also automatically go into record mode if and engine retard takes place. It's a very handy tool.

I wanted to do something custom with it. I didn't want to mount it to my dash board and I wasn't crazy about other ways I've seen it mounted. I also wanted to install an aftermarket stereo but I hated the way one looks with a mounting kit because Delco radios are 1.5 DIN in size so the mounting kit is a half an inch on top and bottom of black border and makes the radio sit out almost a half inch.

I modified a stock mounting kit from Best Buy and moved the radio up to the top border. Doing this also lets the radio mount flush to the kit and not stick out like all other kits. I then cut a spot to fit the scanmaster underneath the radio but still have a small ledge separating the two. Finally I cut some pieces of fiber board and filled in the sections on the side of the Scanmaster to build it up to the same height as the radio. I painted the entire thing black, added two Ponitac Decals and the result is below. :)

Of course there is always the worry of it getting stolen so I came up with a clever way to hide it.

I loved knight rider as a black bird but your car looks a lot cooler. It should have been in the new knight rider instead of a mustang.5* I didn't install the lambos myself had them done at a local shop that installs them.
