This page is for my planing purposes only at this time. if you want to follow along the project you are more then welcome to.
Day 1: (9dec06)
-Towed car home
-stripped old audio cables out
-cleaned under seats
-single test fire 30 sec. resulting in smoke coming out TB, valve cover and tail pipes. generated SES of p0107 map sensor low voltage. required much input from gas to keep runing.
-SC belt was over/off 2 ribs away from motor
Day 2: (10Dec06)
-Charge battery (charged for 20-30 min with Jumper-cables)
-check plugs (shot)all were black, #5 & #6 were only hand tight! #1 had oil on it, #3 smelled like fuel
-test wires (shot) wire #1 came apart at plug end.
-coil pack (#5 terminal corroded... matches to loose #5 plug)
Discovered:
-fuel leak between main line and fuel rail.
-works: windows, hud, locks, mirrors, trunk, interior lights
-doesnt work: sun roof, HVAC blower rattling, DIC not coming on, display on CD HU
Plugs 1-6

Day 3 (11Dec06)
-104 plugs gap .055 installed
-AC delco wires ordered
-Fuel rail disconnect tool, upper set injector orings
-Adjusted vac lines
-Cleaned engine (partially)
-Cleaned and painted PCM case
-Checked runing exterior lighting (ok)
-Downloaded PCM bin (encripeted) no markings on PCM to tell brand
-Primary resistance checked on coils (ok)
-Extra key made (only works on doors)
Day 4 12Dec06
-asembled PCM after painting
-verified blower was P&P unit from modification to inlet
-picked up wires and fuel line orings
-bought compression tester
Day 5 13Dec06
GTP idle
-attached SC belt
-rechecked oil (dark, but full, no sign of water)
-Two scans test
-fired three times (1st rough idle needed gas input, 2nd still rough but would idle without help, 3rd needed input)
-fixed fuel leak with Oring
-cleared MAP code and returned even at key on only! verdict: BAD MAP.
-POS (ie + i didnt mean P.O.S.) battery terminal striped (dont ask) autocraft titanium.
-SC belt jumped 2 teeth over on the crank pulley. possibly need shorter belt or larger idler pulley
Scan1.cvs
Scan2.cvs
Day 6 16dec06
-Compression check failed! ran twice with diff gauges
(new plugs alread in #104's)
#1 plug had fresh oil 150psi
#2 plug had fresh oil 170psi
#3 Plug Clean 0psi
#4 Plug Clean 0psi
#5 slight oil on plug 170psi and 210 on sec test
#6 slight oil on plug 170psi
-pulled pass front wheel
--tie rod boot bad
--oil under engine
Day 7 22Dec06
Removed:
-Battery and tray
-Fuel rail and injectors (one tip cracked/ chipped in outer ring)
-Alt bracket
-tensioner, idler pullies, belts
-vac lines
-coils and wires
Day 8 23Dec06
-Pulled valve covers (no upper valve train damage vissible but apeared to be little metal flakes but could have been paint)
-Upper motor mount bracket removed(cut stud before reasembly)
-removed fuel injectors from rail
-EGR heat shield removed
-Throtle and cruse cables detached
-SC preped for removal

Day 9 24Dec06
Pulled SC:
-bolts were overly tight. one felt like it almost stripped.
-DRV motor mount had excessive play.
-SC screws/blades have chips in coating.

Day 10 30Dec06
Removed rotors from SC
Began porting TB
Before and current/inprogress

Shavings so far lol

SC housing

Day11 1Jan07
Pulled:
-Intake manifold coolent passage shows corrosion and pitting from coolent.
-Thermostat removed. had a 160* tstat with 6 additional holes drilled in it!
-Exhaust crossover and front manifold
-Front head apears fine. no cracks or visible damage. Head gasket was sealed and no sign of failure. center cylinder valves look clean/washed.
-#3 Piston is leaning to one side. (piston ring failure) Cylinder wall shows rust. piston head shows very light marks from valve.

Off and on:
-Porting of TB, SC housing, LQ1 MAF sensor
-ordered bottom end. L36 block.
May 9, 2007 '95 Northstar TB

May 10, 2007 Discovered Blackwidow nest

May 21, 2007 Block arrived

Planned:
-rear Head & Exhaust manifold removal
-port blower, intake manifold, heads, TB
-paint blower, gaskets, test fit
-swap blocks L36 bottom end + mods (list on page 3)
-clean injectors
-remove hood heat shield
-rent fuel pressure gauge
-rerun wiring, alt hotwire, shorten harness
