The valve covers I bought at the GM Nationals the year before last, they were $35.00 for the pair brand new. Pretty good deal I thought, they look really nice even up close. No leaks either. I believe I used a a several cans of cleaner on the engine, some specific engine degreaser and a lot of carb cleaner and brake cleaner. I don't know what brands, but they worked. The engine got a new timing set and all new gaskets except head gaskets. I don't know the mileage or history of the engine (found it in the junkyard, got it for free) but it was clean and went over 10k miles this past summer, hardly uses any oil.
