WELCOME TO MY 97-98 LINCOLN MARK VIII HID CONVERSION INSTRUCTION PAGE
Here you will find the detailed instructions to install the HID conversion kit you purchased from me. If you have any questions on this my contact information is on the piece of paper next to the instruction manual for the HID bulbs in the box.

sublvr72's 1997 Lincoln Mark VIII
First start off by removing the plastic cover to access the Headlights

sublvr72's 1997 Lincoln Mark VIII
Disconnect both of these tabs under the hood, the upper one is for the Hibeam bulb, the lower one with the high volage sticker is for the Factory HID bulb.

sublvr72's 1997 Lincoln Mark VIII
Locate on the Factory HID ballast, it is hidden up in the front bumper. There are two pigtails that come out of it and connect to the headlight harness near the bottom of the core support. Disconnect the headlight harness from the HID Ballast.

sublvr72's 1997 Lincoln Mark VIII
Locate the three 11mm bolts that secure the headlight assembly and remove them.

sublvr72's 1997 Lincoln Mark VIII
Remove the phillips screw on the side of the headlight housing.

sublvr72's 1997 Lincoln Mark VIII
Once all the bolts and the screw are removed the headlight should be free to pull out.

sublvr72's 1997 Lincoln Mark VIII
Once the assembly is loose you will have access to the three signal bulbs on the outside of the housing, twist and remove each of these bulbs

sublvr72's 1997 Lincoln Mark VIII
Completely remove the headlight assembly and take it to a table or work bench to install the new bulbs. First start by removing the HID cover, this twists off. Becareful not to break off any of the tabs that secure it to the housing. If the tabs break the assembly will no longer be water tight. Remove the three brass flat head screws that secure the Factory HID bulb and remove the bulb and discard it. If you have a working bulb I suggest selling it on ebay, the usually bring upwards of $200.

sublvr72's 1997 Lincoln Mark VIII
Once the factory bulb is removed pull the new HID bulb out of the box, it will look like this. Remove the protective plastic cover, BE VERY CAREFUL NOT TO TOUCH THE HID BULB GLASS! The oils in human hands will cause the glass to break when the bulb gets hot. If you accidentally touch the bulb, immediately clean it off with an oil free rubbing alcohol pad, or rubbing alcohol on a cotton ball.

sublvr72's 1997 Lincoln Mark VIII
Insert the new HID bulb into the housing with the black wire up.

sublvr72's 1997 Lincoln Mark VIII
The o-ring on the bulb should allow it to fit snug and secure in the Factory Mark VIII housing.

sublvr72's 1997 Lincoln Mark VIII
Locate one of the two plexi-glass bulb retainers in the kit, and pull it aside.

sublvr72's 1997 Lincoln Mark VIII
Pull the new HID bulb harness and rubber insulator through the plexi-glass.

sublvr72's 1997 Lincoln Mark VIII
Push the plexi-glass cover over the bulb and through the 3 screw studs. This plexi-glass piece keeps the bulb from truning and comming out.

sublvr72's 1997 Lincoln Mark VIII
sublvr72's 1997 Lincoln Mark VIII
Re-install the 3 brass screws to secure the bulb in. Do NOT over tighten the screws, doing this will cause the plexi-glass to crack. Tighten them enough so they do not back out on their own, just a little over hand tight.

sublvr72's 1997 Lincoln Mark VIII
Take a pair of needle nose and grab the old HID light. You will need to seperate the clear cover from the factory light. To do so take the needle nose and turn the black connector slightly to the left and the black plastic piece should come right out. Seperate the bulb and the clear cover. The cover will be reused in this kit.

sublvr72's 1997 Lincoln Mark VIII
Take the cover and pull the new bulb's harness and rubber insulator through the cover.

sublvr72's 1997 Lincoln Mark VIII
Use the rubber gromet to seal the hole in the plastic cover, this will keep the assembly waterproof and air tight, and keep it from fogging up.

sublvr72's 1997 Lincoln Mark VIII
The gromet should sit like this when properly installed.

sublvr72's 1997 Lincoln Mark VIII
sublvr72's 1997 Lincoln Mark VIII
Once the gromet is installed, reinstall the clear HID cover onto the light housing. Match up the tabs, and twist it back in to seal the housing.

sublvr72's 1997 Lincoln Mark VIII
Once the cover is re-installed, pull the wires tight and get any extra slack out of the inside of the cover.

Repeat these steps on the other lense then-

Continue to Page 2 to hook up the new Ballasts.
