Well I've decided that I really want the Daytona to stop being a daily driver. I never really liked the looks of a Ford Explorer. Eh they did drive and ride pretty nice, and I do work at a Ford Garage....So Why not! I went and I bought a 2002 Ford Explorer. (Pictured below) It had 79,000 miles when I bought it. Black leather interior, 3rd row seat, 6 disc cd, sunroof, 4 wheel drive. It has a 4.0 V6. I didn't want a V8 with these gas prices!
Of course I had to get the Daytona in there too!
Feb. & March
Seem to be having loss of power intermittently. Thinking fuel problem. Replaced filter in June of 2007. Then the fuel supply line under the hood around the same time. I am kind of thinking fuel pump.
Come to think of it the Daytona has been running pretty shitty most of the winter. Well anytime its cold out. Seems to run fine after warm up though. It takes forever to get warm. Seems to run better when I add a bottle of STP fuel addative in every other tank full of gas.
When its cold the computer recognizes its cold then adds more fuel to the mixture to try and warm up the engine. Then it runs TOO rich & shitty. (because when its doing this I'm driving down the road. Then when I gas on it to go up a hill or pick up speed it runs shitty.(like misfire)) I have the 195 degree thermostat in it now though. It did the same thing in the summer when I had the 180 degree T-stat in it. So I swapped the 195 in. Thats my conclusion.
Late March Early April
Ok running better now. Not a clue why. All it has been doing is sitting in the garage during the week and out for a quick ride on weekends. When I do try to get it to run shitty IT WON'T! Pfff oh well

Horns quit working last summer. Have good ground and power when the buttons are depressed. Removed horns. Found they hold water well. It poured out. Yeah new horn time.
Locks quit working in July of 2007. Due to me taking door apart to fix passenger side door handle that wouldn't open from the outside. I didn't route the wiring properly so the connector for the power locks was in the wrong spot. At the time I didn't want to fix it. If you've ever had a problem like this you would know that you have to have both locks hooked up for them to work.
Also fixed that defroster tube that mounts inside the door panel. It goes from the edge of the door to point up to the window in each door. It came unstapled/glued. So I drilled and ran 2 little screws through it and super glued the face plate on.

Took car to college. Ran great. First time I ever put the car on a lift. Note to self: New gas tank, lines and pump lol. Getting a little on the rusty side. All original.

Went to junkyard to pick up a few things. One of them was a 52mm Throttle Body. Got it off a 3.3 liter van. I know its a 52mm TB because when I busted a bolt off in the Thermostat housing and removed the intake (to re-thread) I bought a 46mm TB gasket AND a 52mm TB gasket because I knew I was going to put one on sometime and while at the yard I matched them up.
Ok here is the 46mm TB (right) and the new (used haha) 52mm TB (left). Notice the difference? I do notice the difference some. as much as I suspected. It seems throttle response has improved. Also the engine seems quieter idling! Oh yes one more thing I had to change the Throttle Position Sensor. The one from the van wouldn't let the TB mount flat. Took the one off the 46mm TB and put it on the new 52mm TB. Works great! only at a cost of $25 too!

Tucked away for the winter! Yeah I'm still here, been busy with life and not a whole lot of money to spare, it's ok though. I've been trying to keep my Exploder road worthy....
