Well well well
My first real problem arose with the daytona. I drove to work on Saturday June 23. Everything was fine until I got oh about 15 yards from my parking spot. The steam just started pouring out of the passenger side of the car from under the hood. It was 6:45 am. To top it all off my parents just left for Myrtle Beach S.C. at 4am. So I made some phone calls and my brother in law said he would be up after I got done working. I got done around 6:30 that night. I found a crack in the radiator (pictured below) We drained what was left in the radiator just to find so much water discoloration and shit from the radiator flowing out we decided to flush the radiator again and again. We put some stop leak in it and I babied it home and parked it for the rest of the week. Then I had some more "fun" with the truck later the next week. I was on my way home from work at about 9pm the next Thursday wit dads pickup going 55mph and a deer ran out in front of me. I had enough time to lock up the brakes but too late! Oops! I hit it going about 30 mph. No big deal, well besides i couldn't steer because of the bumper hitting the tire. So I just pulled it out and drove home. Carefully LOL
I got a new radiator from the junkyard later that week. I took the old one out just to find one thing to chuckle about.
To the left is the surprise, a very fragile, falling apart radiator. To the right is the crack that I found Saturday morning.Below is the new radiator installed. I spray painted it black because black disperses heat better & the less heat the better.
Yes I know that I haven't updated my page in a while but I've been busy. LOL. 67 hrs a week worth of busy working. So heres my new tires i got oh lets say about 500 miles ago.
Nothing fancy just something to get me where i need to go. These are All season, Goodride Radials 205/55/R16 94W. 89.00 per tire.

Thermostat isn't working right. Its puking out the overflow whenever I slow down because the fan isn't turning on when it's supposed to. So I replaced it with a 180 degree thermostat. Yeah bad decision on my part. Running the engine at a lower temperature which means it always puts more fuel to it to try and warm it up. So I changed it to a stock 195 degree thermostat in until I get the modifications to use that extra fuel that it gives me.

Well it's still puking coolant out of the overflow. The radiator fan does work. So with the guidance of my college adviser we hooked a DRBII Diagnostic Computer up to it and came to the conclusion the my coolant temperature sensor was bad. So I replaced it. Lets hope it works.

Looking around for body panels for the Daytona. Preferably rear quarters. Found some on eBay about 150 miles away. I decided I should call around locally first. Called about 7 junk yards. I got 3 different answers. Mostly No, One said just crushed one last month, the last one I called said Let me check. Yes we have one. Me & my brother in law looked at it.
87 Shelby. T1, auto, Red, approx 150,000 miles. (Cluster was gone) Good body panels all the way around. New headliner, Rough interior (Leather). Miscellaneous under hood parts gone. Basically whole engine is there. Don't know if it turns over, no wheels. They wanted $40 for the rear quarter I wanted. $200 for the entire car! So split the price with my brother in law because he wanted the interior pieces because he has a 88 Shelby Z. It was delivered the next day Sunday the 11. It made a good bull dozer coming off the rollback. Managed to round up some wheels & tires for it. Front tires roll, rears are locked completely up. The best part is it was only seven miles away! Now theres 4 inches of snow on the ground.... Ugh....Pictures of both (87 Shelby Z from yard and Brother in laws 88 Shelby Z) will be coming up soon!

Driving home after work and all of the sudden and it sounded like my exhaust exploded. Well it didn't. Lately I just thought that the oh so common valve tick was getting worse. It was quite loud. It was a loose spark plug that blew out. Threads and all. I thought I would have to remove the head so I could re-tap the threads. Of course, it was the hardest spark plug to get to. Right under the alternator. I talked with some people and found a $53.00 heli-coil type kit for spark plugs. Got it, used it with red lock tight hoping for the best tomorrow morning when I go start it up.

Again driving home from work, going up through the gears it jerked into 3rd. When I went to shift into 4th the clutch pedal went straight to the floor...ugh heard something fall off the car. Broken clutch cable Whew! Could been worse. Also lost the clip that holds the clutch side of the cable in so I fabricated my own. Also cleaned out interior and felt a wet floor. Passenger side. I also noticed that during the summer but didn't think much of it. Tore up carpet found a puddle! I'm trying to figure out where it came from now.

No rust what so ever. I want to keep the body panels all the way around, new headliner, seats, speakers, hatch and the engine
Most everything is in the engine compartment intact, turbo and all. All of the leather seats are in decent shape except the drivers, below the picture it is very ripped up & wore out.

Well I've decided that I really want the Daytona to stop being a daily driver. I never really liked the looks of a Ford Explorer. Eh they did drive and ride pretty nice, and I do work at a Ford Garage....So Why not! I went and I bought a 2002 Ford Explorer. (Pictured below) It had 79,000 miles when I bought it. Black leather interior, 3rd row seat, 6 disc cd, sunroof, 4 wheel drive. It has a 4.0 V6. I didn't want a V8 with these gas prices!
Of course I had to get the Daytona in there too!
